Conditions and reports were difficult around UK, but it was good to have Malclm join us again at the start. Bob reported joining the earlier 20m net but again conditions were not the best but improved later. Otherwise the poor conditions, QRM and difficulties with the SDR made for a rather disjointed net. Many suggestions were given to Penelope W6FLY on how to cut holes in her Mercedes Benz for the purpose of mounting mobile antennas: from Green Lee hole punches to an oxy acetylene cutting torch. The group settled on a well grounded mag mount.
On the practical front Joe AF1E made reference to an antenna switch that would disconnect antennas in case of a lightning storm approach.
Club activities, projects and anniversaries were reported.
Much of the discussion was on the topic of increasing the benefit of ROAR Membership. This led to ways of increasing the active member numbers. To do so there is a need to clarify the reason. for our existence as a fellowship.
Due to prior commitments of some of the radio active members it was decided that the radio net would not meet. We agreed to explore other times and frequencies for the net to meet.
A longer meeting but some serious discussion was shared.
