Well its looks like we over cooked things on Sunday. Bill was hovering around 5.9. However today, Tuesday nothing. The SFI was 107 today and K3 but other factors impacted upon propagation.
Nicholas Wilkinson
From John ZL2JPM
Yes, I had copy on France on the weekend, but the noise tonight here was too much and even Bill's signals suffered.
For what it is worth, I've just setup the IARU noise measurement station for NZ on my lawn. It is accessible at - translate the page to English if your German is as bad as mine; go to "Diagram Evaluation" and thence to "Standort" or "Place" and follow the drop-down menu to NewZealand-221 and then choose 2022-02-14 and then look at the noise floor levels. The noise spectra are shown with reference to the ITU City, Rural and Quiet Rural noise thresholds. Not Good in the backyard (yesterday). There is a raft of information here and interpretation will take me some time as I work on the graphs.
This station is one of about 40 - spread around Europe - the NZ is the only one in the Southern Hemisphere. Once this system is stable and working, it will be relocated to a genuinely rural location and sit there for a few years.
Kind regards
John (ZL2JPM)
From Douglas ZL1BFS
After the storm we had this morning, I seem to have developed an
aerial or a feedline fault I have a high SWR on 40m and 20m. Ill have to take it down and check it out in the morning.
My stand-by antenna - a 43 ft monopole, has also got badly damaged in
the storm, so I have been well and truly silenced this week. Please accept my apologies.
Douglas ZL1BFS

Conditions and signals were initially good but QSB later. Another smaller gathering again both Brian G3LUW and John G7OAI had emailed to say they were listening. John added that his garage refurbishment was taking longer than expected so he is QRT for a while. An interesting net focusing on Rotary membership issue
