Due to drastically changing propagation conditions Doug ZL1BFS and I agreed that we should commence all nets 30 minutes earlier from next Sunday on. In conjunction with that Vernon suggested that we should commence the Zoom meeting after the Tuesday 20m net on April 27th at 0730z.

From Douglas ZL1BFS
Re the Roar Nets tonight (18 April 2021):
On 7110, I could hear Bill VK4ZD 59, and he gave me 5-7
There was a constant S7 noise level on receive.
I could just hear John ZL2JPM. He would have been 56,
but because of the noise level it was more like 26

From Douglas ZL1BFS
Propagation to and in NZ has been abominable over the last few weeks. As I said, on 20m Bill was 59 on an SDR
which is 400 miles away, but I couldn’t hear him at all at my QTH. Then he just disappeared (in an instant)
from the SDR too.
It’ll all come right in November, though.
From John ZL2JPM
Hi Doug
Yes, the signals were very weak from your part of the globe. I had hoped that the intra-NZ propagation might improve and – in correspondence with historical experience for this time of the year
– the overseas propagation would decline a bit.
The highlight of the session on 40m was the appearance of TI2CF from Costa Rica. What a signal! 59’s in both directions. He must have an aerial farm spread across that country!
Your signal to me was nominally 54 but being on the noise edge, it varied from 34 to 54. I’d also make a point that if you spoke slower, your readability would greatly improve 😊. For some (probably genetic) reason I really don’t perform well in the readability stakes with rapid speech in the presence of noise – it took me ages to work our whether the above callsign was DI2.., CI2 or TI2.. (which is why I will never do contests! Viva DSTAR!)
With kind regards
John (ZL2JPM)

As a result of the continuing poor HF conditions between Europe and ANZO, it has been proposed by Nicholas G4HCK that, we supplement the HF net with a Zoom Meeting be held on Tuesdays after the scheduled 20m Eu to ANZO net.
The ZOOM meeting will start at 0730z on 27 April.
This is to enable those who normally participate in the 20m net to get together when the propagation otherwise denies us that ability. Nicholas will host the Zoom meeting using the link below.

From Nicholas G4HCK
Please find the link for the first Zoom meeting for our group. This will be a pilot project and decisions as the continuation will be made on the day. Please pass this link to everyone who you think would be interested.
If when you log in you get the Thurrock Acorns that will be correct. I am using our radio clubs zoom account.
Many thanks.
