Roar Nets March 22nd and 24th 2020

Report for Week beginning 22 March 2020

Don’t forget the Digital Net on Saturdays at 2100z on XLX299R.

Sunday 22nd March 2020
0700z-0730z D-Star Net
From Bill VK4ZD
Jean-Pierre F1CFA (yay 1st time), Phil VK2MCB, Nick G4HCK, David ZL2WT, Vernon W4/G0EGW, John ZL2JPM, Phil ZL2RO and myself were present.
I was forced to use Peanut because the link via my local repeater did not work again.
As a result I have ordered a ShackSpot from Glenn VK4NGA.
Vernon was still stuck in the USA waiting for a flight home but hopes to get home by 26/27 March.

From Jean-Pierre F1CFA
Hello friends,
I experienced for the first time the Dstar Rotary dédicated net with the group. Thanks to all who help me to use the Peanut...So great !
For the first time I could hear the voices of our VIP members !
I explain : My Hear, my 80th years, and my processor ageing...Some difficulty for me...
Bill is perfect; Phil also, Nick sound nicely too.
Vernon was speaking too much ( !!!! ) and a bit too fast for me. But It was 2 o'clock for him in USA ! Glad to know he is returning soon in England.
Dave was OK but a bit difficult as le Peanut was disturbed on him
Except this, everybody had a very good strong and clear 5 by 9. 😀
On the over hand, 7105 was impossible and 20 m strongly noisy, disturbed, QRM, ASO....
On 40m I use now a vertical 10m long antenna. For The 80, 40, 20 I use the skywire which is giving me a quiet recept but due to the multi lob figure is sending everywhere. So the resulting power is lower. So, for transmitting on 20m , the delta loop is much better. I use it also on 17 m.
Thanks a lot for this first but very good meeting.
This report is also for Malcolm, as you can see...Go ahead Malcolm !
My Parrain Pertti would be proud for us !
Jean-Pierre

Much inside humour on crawfish appreciated by those from the southern states.
Some serious chat about what our clubs are doing during the Covid 19 crises.
