Sunday 30th August 2020
0530z-0600z Europe - Anzo Net on 14,294 / 14,285 Long Path
From Bill VK4ZD
Doug ZL1BFS was 58-9+5 and gave me 59.
Peter VK3KCD was 22-33 and could not hear me. Peter ended up hearing Doug 58
We went QRT at 0551z
I recommend changing this sched back to 0700z

From Nicholas G4HCK
Well I wonder where they had gone. 20m was dead. I then moved to peanut and was pleased to hear Jean-Pierre and Vernon but where were our friends from down under. Vernon made a quick Skype call to find out they were talking away so there appeared to be an issue with Peanut with no link between the UK and VK/ZL.
So today was different. Lets hope next week is back to normal, whatever normal is !

0600z-0630z D-Star Net
From Bill VK4ZD
John ZL2JPM,  Phil VK2MCB  and I were present. Nick G4HCK, Vernon G0EGW and Jean-Pierre F1CFA could connect to each other (using Peanut) but could not connect to XLX299R

0630z - 0700z Anzo Net on 7,105 +/- QRM
From Bill VK4ZD
Peter VK3KCD was 58 peaking 59+10 and gave me 59
Doug ZL1BFS was 59+5 and gave me the same; he gave Vernon 33
Vernon G0EGW  was 57-8 and gave me the same.
Jean-Pierre F1CFA was 11-22 here but Vernon said he gave me 41
We went QRT at 0658z

0800z - 0900z UK 80-metre Net on 3,694
From Bob G3SZF
G3LUW Brian was net control and was joined by:
G3SZF Bob
G7OAI John
G3JJR John
G0EGW Vernon
G4LXD Bill
PA3AHC Malcolm
Conditions were good as was copy all round UK. It was good to have Malcolm join us and he let us know about possible 20m nets later in the day. We also had an email from John G3OKT to say he would be listening in. Further interesting discussion including using ZOOM to gather up UK members and others.

Special Request from Malcolm PA3AHC for our European Members

For what it’s worth . I’ll be QRV again tomorrow on 20m/294 +/- QRM on the hour with 400w and an Italian dedicated dipole ( roughly E/W ) from shack #1 , as from 1300z with “ CQ ROAR… ( My equally dedicated single – element beam for 20m has not had an erection for more than a year , I’m sad to say , although as always , hope springs eternal !)
Btw , the band in EU does appear to be open most afternoons our time , as I have experienced barefoot with several QSO’s. More powerful stations are also crossing the pond. (Soon I’ll have my Heathkit Linear SB 201 working upstairs in shack # 2 – alongside my real office - with its brothers Transceiver HW101 + Tuner SA 2060 - to also go after some DX with this nostalgic stuff - instead of working which does not make much sense right now -connected by a 70m+ top coax to an OCF dipole which is nice and quiet and does a good job so far .
I’ll be listening so it’s up to you folks to join in !
Cheers ,
Malcolm

2000z NA ZOOM NET
From Noel WD8QHD/VE3

Following a round of discussion of Rotary and amateur radio activities a more serious tone was set as the group discussed disaster recovery. This was significant as David WN4V and Dixon KC5PL were both impacted by Hurricane Laura and were both operating from locations in Texas due to no electrical power at their respective QTH's. The spirit of service above self was evident as the group resolved to help how and when they could but would wait upon further information becoming known..
A great meeting displaying both Rotary and amateur radio ideals of service to others.
There were a total of 19 persons checked in.
