ROAR Nets Report for Sunday 7 October and Tuesday 9 October 2018

Please note the changed frequency for 40m below.
This is due to 7110 being used as an Emergency Freq in Indonesia post the earthquakes.

From Phil VK2MCB
Bill VK4ZD was 59 and gave me 59+
John ZL2JPM was 23
Pertti EA7GSU and could only recognise my voice. Bill relayed. Bill was copying Pertti around 55.
Peter VK3KCD could not be copied by me but Bill and Peter exchanged good reports.
We QSY'd to 20m at 0734z and I copied Bill

From Pertti EA7GSU
Before the opening time of 40m net, I scanned the band and heard a god half a dozen of VK and ZL stations some were 57/8 running contest. I heard Bill on 7105kc with 45/6 because of EU qrm and gave me 57. Recognized your (Phils) voice as well as Peter˙s but John, ZL2JPM was 31 and he gave me report as well.
At 0730z I moved to 20m and there was a whole in the air. Bill came back to my CW and gave 449. He was 31 here but soon after faded out of ears. At least it keeps the optimism in life, hi.
On EU side only Malcolm was audible with 59 steady signal. Almost switching off I heard faintly Nick G4HCK but he as well faded away without a chance to change reports. Band was quite turbulent.

0730z-0830z Europe - Anzo Net on 14,295.2 Long Path
From Bill VK4ZD

Pertti EA7GSU was 449 on CW

From Phil VK2MCB
Nothing heard apart from Bill in VK

Douglas ZL1BFS reported:
I listened on 14295.2 at 0730, and experienced an S9 noise level, but heard no stations anywhere on the 20m band I will try 14295.2 again at 2130.

John G3OKT reported:
Sorry Phil, not much UK participation in ifroar on 20m this week - must get my head round the current ANZO times but of course the Sun is no longer with us!
John, G3OKT

0800z - 0900z 12th August UK 80-metre Net on 3,694
From John G7OAI/P
Report of the UK 80m net today:-
I arrived a new temporary location today, at the highest local point, some 1,250 feet ASL, as my second radio job of the day was with my RAYNET hat on from 0900Z.
It proved to be a good location. It is next to part of the Cold War military 'Back bone' system transmitter, now used for more friendly purposes!
I called Brian, G3LUW about 10 minutes before 0800Z to keep the frequency clear, before opening the net officially at 0805Z.
A call for anyone else produced G3OKT, G2FUU, G3SZF, G3JJR and PA3AHC immediately - a good start! G4LXD joined us later.
A number of interesting topics were aired, including local QRM from (especially) BT Hub internet systems, and potentially from
inductive chargers for electric cars. Another topic was smart meters. Apart from not being reliable and possibly subject to interference
from amateur radio, there may be a hidden agenda, allowing electricity suppliers to vary the rate per kWh during the day, putting it up
during periods of high demand.
News of a new pin badge for ROAR was of interest, and we are looking forward to seeing it. And for those who found Hack Green
off air today, an alternative SDR station can be found here:- http://www.160m.net/
Reports as heard by me:-
Brian, G3LUW, 59+30
John, G3OKT, 59+30
Tommy, G2FUU, 59+10
Bob, G3SZF, 59+10
John, G3JJR, 59
Malcolm, PA3AHC,57
Bill, G4LXD, 59+10
Good conditions produced arm chair copy for most of us. Let's hope things are improving!
73, John, G7OAI/P. John Cannell, Past President, Rotary Club of Rochdale.

1900z-1930z NA Transcontinental net on 7.185 September 2
From President Ed Tyler N4EDT
I am looking for videos of ROAR activities. They can be as simple as a hello, CQ, 73, or the callsign of a ROAR member made in front of their station. Short clips are fine. These videos will be assembled into a video to promote ROAR on YouTube and to be distributed to Clubs that want to promote Fellowships.

2130z - 14,295.2 Long Path- Anzo Net on 14,295.2 Long Path
From Phil VK2MCB

From Doug ZL1BFS
The noise level on 14295.2 at 21.20 was only S4, but I still heard no signals at all on that band.
