0800z - 0900z UK 80-metre Net on 3,694
From John G7OAI
Report from the UK 80m net.
I opened the net at 0759Z, with Brian, G3LUW. We agreed to move up a little to 3.6950 to avoid QRM from the near continent.
After a couple of overs I called for anyone wanting to join the net, and John G3JJR and Bob G3SZF came back. We exchanged
the usual wx reports, and then Vernon, G0EGW called in.
Apart from Bob, who was suffering local QRN as well as the QRM afore mentioned, all were good signals.
Some discussion about venues, meals and Rotary Council meetings ensued, with similar comments all round. Basically you can't satisfy all of the people all of the time!
And it's important that Council reports back to, and takes account of, members' comments about their suggestions. Heady stuff!!
Tommy G2FUU called in next at 0824Z and commented that he couldn't get a word in... Black mark for the Controller!
However all is well at FUU Towers.
Good news. Bob decided to sign out at 0832Z, as the QRM was becoming intolerable.
Another round of overs passed and then Bill, G4LXD called in at 0835Z, with the same comment as Tommy.
Another black mark for the Controller. "Could do better".... Fortunately Bill is a tolerant type.
By 0845Z, QSB was also becoming an issue, so I decided to call the net to a close, after a final run down at 0847Z.
Signal reports from me were:-
G3LUW, 59+20
G3JJR, 59+10
G3SZF, 59
G0EGW, 59+20
G2FUU, 59+20
G4LXD, 58

From Bill VK4ZD
At 0600z:

From Phil VK2MCB
No contact on 20m but assisted Peter VK3KCD to get his Dstar Icom ID51A Plus 2 programmed.
Peter was also assisted by Phil ZL2RO to make Peter’s Raspberry Pi Hotspot operational. As a result
Peter, John ZL2JPM and I managed to have a successful Dstar QSO.
From Bill VK4ZD
At 2200z:
Klaus HB9CQS called me at 2214z and we exchanged 57 reports
Email Received from Noel VK2IWT, now permanently resident in Canada, follows:
Hello Phil:
Due to the poor performance of my e-mail server I have changed my e-mail address. It is now nrmclaren3@gmail.com.
Enjoy getting the ROAR reports. Please send them to the new e-mail.
Am QRT at the moment - in our absence, the power co. deemed the tree I tied my dipoles to was dead and thus cut it down. One sided dipoles do not work well for me.
I squandered some of my kids' inheritance on some new radio gear. When the antennas go up I will let you know how they work.
Please give my regards to the 40 m net.
