Three of us on 40m today, Peter VK3KCD, John ZL2JPM
and Doug ZL2BFS.
VK3KCD was 59+10 and gave me 58
ZL2JPM was 41 and gave
Doug ZL1BFS was 59 and gave me the same
Doug left to call on 14295.2
at 0648Z in an attempt to get some contact with Europe so we all QSY’d,
unfortunately with no luck.
0700z- 0800z Europe - Anzo Net on 14,292 Long Path

gave SFI 82 A 14 K 7 sunspots 21 (steady)
There had also been a minor aurora
Poor conditions; no hope for VK/ZL.
PA3AHC was heard at 0655z –
I called Malcolm but heard no response.
G4HCK and G3OKT exchanged 5.5 b/w but
I then lost Nick.
OH2BAD and G3OKT exchanged 5.9 b/w. Miika gave Nick 5.7;
gave Malcolm 5.4 and got 4.4. At 0716 Miika and I exchanged 5.9+10dB b/w.
HB9CQS was just heard but I had no copy. EA7GSU was also just detectable here
but not copiable.
HB0/IK3TND Giuseppe a visitor from Lichtenstein called
Miika and gave him 5.6. Giuseppi was only 2.1 here.
F1CFA got 5.5 from Miika.
No copy of Jean Pierre here. Later Jean Pierre got 5.7/8 from Miika in exchange
G0EGW/F Vernon, camping in France, got 5.7 from Miika at 0730z. Not
PA3AHC was 5.5 with Miika. Malcolm still no copy here.
Nick was 5.5 here and gave me 3.3
EA7GSU was understood to be with a Danish
station OU0POLIO (see above). At 0750 I heard Pertti at 5.6; he gave me 5.7.
HB9CQS Klaus was only 1.1 at 0742
G6UUR a visitor, Sam, was 5.9 with OH2BAD
at 0753. No copy here, only 1.1?
I QSY’d at 0749 for the RIBI Sunday net on
Both Doug ZL1BFS and Phil VK2MCB attempted to make contact with
Europe between 0650-0715Z with no success

0800z - 0900z UK 80-metre Net on
G3OKT was Net Controller –wierd conditions on 80m with high
noise level (S6 here), improved during the net.
G7OAI/P was 4/5-6 QSB
initially, increasing to 5.8/9 by 0838. Gave G3SZF 5.9+ and G3JJR 5.3; John said
G3LUW was down on his usual signal and that the rest were “scratchy”
John was 4.6 to 5.8 here; gave me 4.7 with “scratchy” copy, but G2FUU was
“crashing in”! G7OAI’s signal was much improved by 0840
G3SZF was 5.8/9 here
and said G3OKT was as usual; gave G3LUW 5.9; said OAI and JJR were best ever;
G4LXD was initially not heard at all, but came up towards the end of the net.
G2FUU Tommy was 5.9+10dB here; said OAI and SZF were heard strongly
Brian was 5.9+20dB here as usual; gave me 5.9; gave OAI 5.6-5; gave JJR 5.6;
gave SZF 5.9; and gave FUU 5.9
G4LXD Bill was 5.9 here; gave G3OKT 5.9+20dB;
G3LUW 5.9; G3SZF just heard but was 5.9 on Hack Green SDR; FUU was 4.7 to 5.9;
OAI 5.8; and JJR 5.8.
PA3AHC was heard early in the net by John OAI and was
up to 5.8-9 by 0836.
I closed the net at 0858 after much useful discussion,
including the up-coming Hoddesdon to Himalaya (Everest Base-camp) presentation
at Tommy’s Rotary Club in two weeks.
Both Johns, G7OAI and G3OKT, said they
will not be on the net next week.

Good conditions for Europe today,
but no sign of VK/ZL
PA3AHC was just heard here at 0706z; later got
5.3-5.9/QSB with HB9CQS.
HB9CQS Klaus was 5.8 here, building to 5.9+.
PA0SDZ Les was 5.5 with Klaus but was only 3.1 here before disappearing
F1CFA and G3OKT initially exchanged 5.5 b/w – Jean Pierre came up
to 5.7 here at 0723; Jean Pierre heard Les at 5.5 and also heard Malcolm, but
was not copied by Klaus.
G0EGW was 5.1/3 here; Klaus gave Vernon 5.4/6
G4HCK was only 2.1 here at 0723z. Nick gave HB9CQS 5.9+20dB and got 5.9.
PA3AHC got 5.4 from F1CFA; Malcolm was 2.1 here building to 5.2
VK2MCB at 0735 but had no response.
PA0SDZ came back at 4.4 QSB at 0742
giving G3OKT 4.3.
I went QRT at 0746z.
