Roar Nets June 11th - June 13th 2017

ROAR Nets Report for 11th and 13th June 2017

0530z - 0600z Anzo Net on 7,110

0600z- 0700z Europe - Anzo Net on 14,292 Long Path
Received from Phil VK2MCB on June 9th (so times of nets are tentatatively changed here in bold)
I am sending this email due to John G3OKT travelling on the Continent. I wished to get this message to you in time for the Sunday morning (in Europe) ROAR net on 20m.
I have been monitoring 20m in Australia from 0600z daily and can report that John EA7BA is putting out a good readable signal to VK from Spain between 0600 to 0645Z on 14156 Khz. He participates in a daily net with a number of VK and ZL stations.
On this basis, and checking our experience in past years, I propose that we shift the ANZO ROAR net one hour earlier to 0600z. I believe this will give us a better chance for Europeans to make VK/ZL DX contact. We were holding this net at 0600z in June 2016 with success.
I therefore propose that the ANZO ROAR 20m net begin at 0600z on Sunday 11 June on 14295.2 Khz.
This will be preceded by the ANZ 40m net on 7110 Khz, from 0530z to 0600z.

Received copy from Coco YO9BC of a mail to Bill VK4ZD on 12th June
Sorry to disturb you - Maybe you can "clear" to me what happens ???--
---WHAT I HAVE DONE WRONG ??? I have tried many times to contact ZL2JPM by mail , and server rejects all contacts [ suposed to be secret !!! ]I also tried to contact on Radio - [ 20 m band - 14295,200 ] but nothing to hear there ...I will try once more today at 10 hrs- Atlanta local time .
..I was based on John ZL2JPM communication plan - but it seems that nothing works !
Webmaster: I have emailed Coco and he is all ok now :)

0800z - 0900z UK 80-metre Net on 3,694
From John G7OAI
I opened at 0758Z, with Brian, G3LUW, joined after a couple of overs by G3JJR, John & G3SZF, Bob. Finally Tommy, G2FUU came on board. Conditions were quite good today, with some QSB creeping in towards the end of the session.
Various topics were aired, including aerials, the general election and weather around the country. With only a few of us on, and Brian departing early to join his family for his birthday celebrations, I brought things to a close a bit earlier, at 0837z.
Reports:-
G3LUW - 5x9 (signed out at 0823)
G3JJR - 5x9
G3SZF - 5x8
G2FUU - 5x8

1700z – 1730z RIBI evening 80-metre Net on 3,694 MHz

2230z - 2300z Informal Transcontinental net on 7.118 +/- QRM
From Ed N4EDT
The net was called using the special event call of W4R. The net opened at 2230z on 7.188MHZ and closed at 2404Z There were many first time checkins and many great comment about the good things Rotary has done.

The net was called from the NZ2Z station, the home of Bob Bennett. Following the net and in recognition of his support he was awarded an Honorary membership in ROAR for 2017-18. N4EDt-Ed.

0800z – 0830z Tuesday 13th June 2017 NZ 80-m net on 3,693

0600z - 0630z Tuesday 13th June 2017 EUR net on 14,295.2
From John G3OKT : QSL at 0305z gave SFI 75 A 8 K 3 and sunspots 0 for the 4th day!
EA7GSU At 0605z I answered Pertti’s CQ and we exchanged 5.8 b/w. Pertti said that he had heard W4R several times on 20 and 17m and that the Atlanta station would remain active until June 18th.
VK2MCB Phil got 5.2 from Pertti at 0628. No sign of Phil here.
F1CFA was 5.9 with Pertti but Jean Pierre was barely 2-1.1 here.
I went QRT at 0630z

Again, for those who have a FACEBOOK Account, Di VK4ZD posted on 15th May :
Diane Main shared a link to the group: ROAR International Fellowship of Rotarians of Amateur Radio.
President John (ZL2JPM) has provided us with detailed plans for everyone to be able to communicate with us in Atlanta.

After returning from Europe, I heard W4R on 14.295 MHz on 14th June at 1735z and exchanged 5.9 b/w with Bill (VK4ZD). I understand that both G4HCK and G0EGW have already worked W4R and that there is just a chance that Bill may return to Australia in time for next Sunday’s net.

That’s all for now,
73s from John G3OKT
