Tiina OH8BBO was 22 until she fired up the amplifier and was then 55;
she gave me 52 - wonderful to hear her again (she is a friend of Diane and myself)
I went QRT at 0923z
From John G3OKT
QSL gave SFI 74 A 11 K 4 and sunspots 22 (down) at 0605z
Conditions good for Northern Europe – eg OH and IZ stations were 5.9+ here and causing QRM from a contest;
VK’s were heard in the noise at 0830 but no copy under the QRM.
EA7GSU Pertti 5.7 acknowledged VK4ZD and ZL1BFS were on frequency.
G0EGW Vernon was 4.5 here, giving peak of 5.7 for Bill
F1CFA was on frequency but only 1.1 here. Jean Pierre was 4.4 with VK4ZD.
VK4ZD only 2.1 QSB here at 0842 – Bill referred to ZL1RD but Rob didn’t respond to my call
VK4ZD peaking 1.5 with hollow voice at 9845. Bill gave me 4.3/4 with “funny echo”
G0EGW gave me 5.7
EA7GSU gave VK4ZD 5.3 at 0847 (up from earlier 4.1). Pertti got 4.4 from Bill and 5.6 here
G4HCK Nick was not heard here, but Pertti relayed Bill’s 4.3 from Nick. Nick was 2.2 with Bill at 0850.
ON4JM Jean a visitor gave Bill 5.3 at 0851. Jean was pkg 5.5 with Bill and 5.4 here. Bill was now up to 5.5 here and more solid at 0845.
VK2IWT was on frequency; Noel was not heard here.
G3LUW Brian called in; I heard from Brian later on 80m that he was 5.7 with VK4ZD.
VK2MCB was just 1.1 here.
ZL2JPM was heard by Pertti but was too weak to copy. John was not heard here.
PA3AHC Malcolm was 5.8 with Pertti at 0958; Pertti also touching 5.8 here but I had serious QRM from the contest stations. I QSY’d to 80m for the RIBI net at 0900z.
Pertti EA7GSU e-mailed after the net : The QRM by the Italian network located 14297kHz is causing plenty of disturbance for stations from OH to EA. We did use previously the QRG 14293kHz but moved to the present one because of the 2kHz heterodyne on the zero beat BC stn. I suggest we try the frequency 3kHz down i.e. 14292kHz to find out if it would be free for us to take. We still would be close enough for members to find us if info hasn˙t found them. What say?
0900z - 1000z UK 80-metre Net on 3,693
From John G3OKT
G7OAI/P John was net controller “on the hill”. He was 5.9 +15/20dB with QSB here.

G3JJR was 5.9 +10dB here
G0SQH was 5.9 here; using Hack Green SDR
G3SZF was 5.9+10dB
G3OKT was 5.9+60dB with John OAI!
PA3AHC called in at 0936 at 5.8. Gave Brian 4.3 and got 5.5. Malcolm reported earlier contact with VK4ZD at 3.2/3.3 on 20m.
G2FUU Tommy was listening and Phoned Brian during the net. Tommy had u/s Tx
G0EGW called in at 0935. Vernon was 5.9+ here and complained of serious Italian QRM on 20m
Generally good conditions here – all stations at least 10dB higher than usual.
G3LUW said he would be on 80m later at 0180z. Brian will also be net control next week.
1200z – 1300z TransAtlantic Net on 14,287/8 or at 1500z on Sunday on 14287kHz or 14.310MHz

1900z – 2000z N.AM Transcontinental Net on 14,287, 7205
From Pertti EA7GSU
I was there and this time there was propagations. Several good W-signals made S9 and I heard two or three net operating as well. I scanned the 14285 kHz area and called on SSB and CW about 20min but there was no answer. But not giving up yet.
0700z – 0730z Tuesday 7th February 2017 NZ 80-m net on 3,693

From John G3OKT
QSL gave at 0610z : SFI 77 A 6 K 3 sunspots 35 (rising)
Conditions good; Woodpecker was a deafening S9+25dB at 0853
VK4ZD, VK2MCB and F1CFA were just detectable in the noise here at 0830 but HB9CQS was 5.5 and Klaus gave Bill 5.6/7 and Phil 5.5/6 and got 5.7/8 from Phil and 5.6 from Bill.
HB9CQS gave G3OKT 5.4-7 at 0832.
F1CFA gave EA7GSU 5.5 but Jean Pierre was not heard by Pertti at this time.
PA3AHC was just recognizable 1.1; Malcolm was 5.7 with Pertti but barely heard by Klaus.
EA7GSU exchanged 5.7 b/w, soon 5.9 b/w, with Klaus HB9CQS.
VK4ZD heard G3OKT pkg 4.4 at 0843, and Pertti gave Bill 5.6 and got 5.5
PA3AHC was now pkg 3.3 with VK4ZD
VK2MCB was still only 1.1 here in the noise, but Phil gave Pertti 5.5 and got 5.3/4
HB9CQS was a steady 5.5 here at 0848; Klaus was 5.7, peaking S9 with VK4ZD.
PA0SDZ had 100% copy of VK4ZD at 0950 (5.4b/w); Les heard Klaus at 5.6 and got 5.2-4 but Les said Pertti was not so good. Pertti heard Les at 5.7 on the back of his beam.
VK2MCB was still not strong at 0850 but Les exchanged 4.2 b/w with Phil.
VK4ZD Bill had more “bite” to his voice at 0852 and Pertti gave him 5.7, but Bill became less copiable with rapid flutter around S3 and difficult copy at 0902.
F1CFA suddenly appeared at 0857. Jean Pierre exchanged 5.9 b/w with G3OKT, gave EA7GSU 5.5, PA0SDZ 4.1, HB9CQS 5.5, PA3AHC 2.1, VK4ZD 5.2, and gave VK2MCB 5.3
VK4ZD got 3.2 from PA3AHC around 0903 and gave Malcolm 4.4.
VK2MCB Phil now had a recognizable voice but was still only 1.1 as I went QRT at 0905.
EA7GSU Pertti explained his proposal (above under Sunday report) to move the ROAR net to 14.292 if it is free to take as result of recent QRM from OH and I into EA on 14.297.
That’s all for now.
