From John G3OKT
A 0310z, QSL gave SFI 87 A 31(red) K 5(red) sunspots 33 (cf a record in 1952 of 285!)
HB9CQS heard me "very weak" at S3 - Klaus was initially only 4.1, but came up to 5.6 at 0605z.
YO9BC Coco was 5.8 here saying Klaus was "very strong"; gave Miika 5.8 and Pertti 5.9.
G4HCK Nick could just hear me. He was 3.1-4; got 5.6 from HB9CQS and gave Klaus 5.7
OH2BAD gave G4HCK 5.9 and gave G3OKT 5.5/6 though was only 4.3 here. Miika got a fine 5.6/7 from Klaus.
EA7GSU Pertti said VK4ZD was on frequency. Pertti heard Bill 3.1 with rapid QSB and also gave Miika 5.8. Pertti was then 5.5 here with QSB.
VK4ZD, VK2MCB and ZL1BFS were on frequency but were not heard here. Pertti could copy VK at 0615 but Miika could not.
PA3AHC was called by OH2BAD at 0620 but no response. At 0628, Malcolm was heard by Miika at 5.7 but was only just recognizable here.
F1CFA came up at 0631; Jean Pierre exchanged 5.9 b/w with Klaus at 0640
Conditions seemed to change here at 0633 - everything, including background noise, went quiet; Miika was only 3.1; then Pertti appeared very strong and we exchanged 5.7 b/w. Klaus came up to 5.7 here. Pertti gave VK4ZD 4.2 and got 3.3. Bill was not heard here.
G3OKT listened Short Path to VK at 0637 and Long Path at 0638 but still nothing heard.
F4GHB Alain appeared at 0647 "wavy" and 4.3 here at best; Alain was 5.1-2 with Pertti.
The net closed at 0652.

From Nick G4HCK
Despite having a newly painted office, new carpet etc. the band was not kind to us today. I was rather hoping it was a magic carpet that I had in the office and we would be able to hear each other with ease. However the propagation was 87 but the K factor was 5 with lots of QSB. Still the sun is shining and the birds are singing so it’s not all bad.

0800z - 0900z UK 80-metre Net on 3,694
From John G3OKT who was Net Control
Conditions were generally "poor", though some signals were strong in QSB
G2FUU Tommy was 5.9 with QSB
G3JJR John was only 5.7/8 here; 5.5 with G3LUW and 4.7 with G2FUU
G3LUW was 5.9+20 here; gave me 5.9. Brian heard Bob and Bill at 5.7
G7OAI/P was 5.7 with Brian. However by 0825, John was 5.9+20dB here in QSB.
G0EOB/M a visitor in North Devon called in. Fred was 5.9+20dB with G7OAI/P and could copy all stations. Fred was 5.9 here and 4.7 with Bob G3SZF
G3LXD Bill was a steady 5.9 here; was 5.7 with G3SZF (usually 5.9+); and gave G3JJR 5.9+10dB.
Good discussion including arrangements for the 2018 ROAR AGM at Llangollen.
The Net was closed at 0900z

1700z – 1730z RIBI evening 80-metre Net on 3,694 MHz

2230z - 2300z Informal Transcontinental net on 7.118 +/- QRM
From Ed N4EDT
The net commenced at 2230Z and continued on 7.188 until 2300z when the net QSY’d to 14.288. KA9LFX was the only station that was not checked in both nets, being active only on the 14.288 segment. conditions were mixed on both bands. Again, the Net Logger program, roarnetlogger.net made us aware of a number of station before they were heard on the air.

From Bill VK4ZD

Klaus HB9CQS was initially 33 until at 0630z when he came up to 54-5. He gave me 52.
I went QRT at 0640z

From Klaus HB9CQS
Started listening and calling shortly after 06:00z but no stations were heard. It didn’t surpise me because the K-value was 6. First indication of any life on the net was about 06:25z when the VKs started coming in. At 06:28z I was able to work Phil, VK2MCB. He was 52 here and gave me 53-55. Bill, VK4ZD, became readable shortly afterwards, 52 here. Bill gave me 54. These reports were still valid when we closed down at 06:42z. We discussed the net starting time and agreed that a reschedule was called for.

From Malcolm PA3AHC
As they say, there’s a first time for everything , and on Tuesday I fell into a deep hole on 20m and heard zilch for once . (There was some activity heard on 40m though when I had plenty of time to look elsewhere .)
UK 80m net on Sunday was all noise from this end , hence no QSO’s there either

From Pertti EA7GSU
I was there and called EU direction as well as ANZO on A3 and A1 until 0625 utc, but I heard nothing from anybody. Such a black - out I haven˙t experienced before although some mornings have been bad as well.

From John G3OKT
Sorry I had to miss this net but QSL site at 0310 did earlier forecast conditions as SFI 87
A 10 K 8 sunspots 43 (rising)

That’s all for now!
