Anzo Net on 14,295.2 Long Path
Conditions from QSL at 0310z : SFI 79 A 26 (red) K 4 sunspots 16
As expected, the band was initially dead apart from 3 weak
G3OKT called CQ with no response.
HB9CQS was just heard
4.1 at 0634 calling VK4ZD (not heard); At 0731z Klaus was 1.1 signing off with
G3LUW (said later on 80m that he had) worked no one on this net, but
had worked two Ja stns.
From Nick G4HCK
Well this morning’s net was
very interesting. Was anyone there?? The clocks went back in the UK last night
and I was beginning to look to see if I had made a mistake re the time of the
net. The web site shows 07.00 gmt but the emails received indicate 0630z -
0730z. It was 07.00z so I continued to monitor. I thought I heard Klaus or was
it Pertti. So all in all I was on my own - a little fish in a big pond. The band
started to wake up with contest stations taking over the frequency at 07.30z. At
this point I decided it was time for breakfast so qsy’d to the kitchen.
hope conditions improve next week.
From Klaus HB9CQS
I heard and worked one
station and two call signs. At the net starting time the band was dead here.
06:41z worked Bill, VK4ZD, his / mine 32 / 45. Other ANZO stations were just a
distant mumble. Continued listening.
07:07z Bill called with a 57-58 signal,
increasing to 59, fairly steady and overriding the contest QRM.
John, ZL2JPM and Phil, VK2MCB, but no reply. Bill expected that they had gone
07:13z Worked Malcolm, VK4/PA3AHC, visiting Bill and Diane. I am not
certain that Australia accepts the CEPT system. Please explain, Bill.
working Pertti, EA7GSU, but Pertti and all other Europeans were 00 here
07:31z Net closed
The big Japanese contest stations were now booming in long
path. The band was certainly not dead. I worked 10 contest stations before
closing down, including 3 x JA, 1 x VK3, 1 x ZW8 (Brazil).
In spite of cqww contest we had an empty frequency!!!
it was until 0641 when I heard J - P, F1CFA and gave 31 report. But he
disappeared before I got my report.
Then calling to various directions and in
different modes for half an hour. Slowly from the mud of background noise came
Bill, VK4ZD and grew up to 57 at the end of sched 0731utc. I recognised Klaus’
voice but couldn’t read him.
At this point the band was found by the
contesters and was crowded!
We wish for better next time!
John ZL2JPM was 56 and gave me 57
Bruce VK2BX was 33
Peter VK3KCD was 33 here
Phil VK2MCB was 33-44 and gave me 41
VK2IWT was 33 here
Klaus HB9CQS was 45-58 and gave me 57-8-9
was 54-4 and gave me 55-6
Malcolm PA3AHC was portable at VK4ZD

From Klaus HB9CQS to VK4ZD before the net :
Deciding on the schedule time is difficult, I know. I hope that the following
may be of some help.
At 06:45z this Monday morning (SN14, K3) the band was
dead. I got a weak signal from Len about 06:55z and we decided to wait. Our QSO
then started 07:05z. Len was 55-56. When we closed at 07:28z Len was 55-57. From
abt. 07:20z Len was able to work Jan, Danish also and living on the Mediteranian
coast a few hundred kilometers east of Pertti. Jan was not workable here until
07:28z. Same pattern as on Sunday where I never heard Pertti.
06:30z now being half past seven in the morning!, I am fairly certain that there
will be no contacts between Europe and ANZO when/if the Tuesday-net starts at
06:30z. And I feel sorry for OKT and LUW who are 10 degrees west of me.
From Bill VK4ZD
to Klaus before the net :
I think you may be correct.
The best time
for both VK and ZL into Europe is currently going to be 0700z
I will be on
frequency from 0700z
Even the G's should have propagation to vk from 0730z.

The good news: This

06:50z Heard Peter, VK3KCD, but too weak to contact.
ZL2JPM, his/mine 55-56/57. John is planning an upgrade of his antenna.
Phil, VK2MCB, 57-58/59
06:55z Doug, ZL1BFS, 54/57. Doug was weaker than John
at this point in time. This changed later.

07:05z Pertti, EA7GSU, 59/59

33 from Bill and returned a 51.
07:19z Bill had dropped to 55 here. Got 57.
