0800z - 0900z UK 80-metre Net on 3,6935
From John G3OKT who was Net Control.
G3LUW was particularly strong at 5.9+25dB. Brian gave 5.9 for all stations but with ups and downs, G3SZF being particularly strong.
MW6BAQ a visitor Paul near Swansea called into the net giving Brian 5.9+10dB. Paul was 5.9+5 here, 5.9 with Bob, 5.9+10 with both Bill and John JJR, and 5.9 with John OAI.

G3SZF Bob was 5.9 here
G3JJR was 5.9+10dB
G7OAI was 5.9 here, had no copy of Paul direct but heard him 5.9+ via the Hack Green SDR. John could only copy Brian and John/OKT direct, but heard all via Hack Green.
G2FUU Tommy was a good signal
G4LXD Bill was 5.9+20dB here; gave all 5.9 except Brian at 5.7.
G0PCF Bruce was 5.9+5dB here, heard Tommy and John/JJR OK and said Bill was just above his high noise level.
A good discussion was had, including the state of booking at Banbury for the 2017 RIBI AGM. John/JJR asked particularly for clarification of what members intended to do on the Friday.
G2FUU confirmed he would listen for any callers to the evening 80m net, and would also be net controller next Sunday (Oct 23).
G3OKT apologized for his absence next Sunday and the following Tuesday – half term holidays for grandchildren!
The net closed at 0902z
From Geoff G3KIW
It is with sadness that I reproduce this e-mail received from Geoff -
I notice that Gus G3LLK receives your net reports. Sadly Gus died on his way back from Newark. I do not know whether he participated in the nets but he was very active in Rotary and Amateur Radio. Can his e-mail address be removed please. Trust you are well,

I went QRT at 0712z
From John G3OKT
Figures from QRZ @ 0605z were SFI 76 A 20 (red) K 3 and sunspots 23 (falling)
As expected, 20m was quiet and empty at 0630z. The Kazakhstan harmonic was S3-6 in QSB, and S5 with spreading modulation at 0655. Woodpecker was S9 at 0643 on 14.28Mhz.
G3OKT called CQ at 0632 and 0636, and also by cw at 0655 but received no response.
HB9CQS was 1.1 at 0637; Klaus came up to 5.5 here at 0652, heard giving Henk VK2GWK 4.4. I called Klaus later when he was back to 2.1, but no response was heard here.
VK2GWK was 4.4 with Klaus. Henk was not heard here.
YO9BC peaked S5 but was not copiable – audio was very broken and bursty – sounded like over-modulation but might have been a quirk of propagation? I called Coco at 0648 but heard no response.
VK2MCB Phil was also heard by Klaus but not heard here.
I went QRT at 0658z.
From Klaus HB9CQS
If you heard me working Henk, VK2GWK, it was a slip of my tongue. I have not worked Henk for several months. Here is an extract of my log:
06:36z Bill, VK4ZD, his/mine 58-59/56-59, fairly steady
06:42z John, ZL2JPM, 58 on peaks/54-57, decreasing to 43 when I closed down.
06:50z Phil, VK2MCB, 53/57, after being 11 when I joined the net
06:56z QRT
From Pertti EA7GSU
Some time back I thought it cannot be worse. Today it was!
Nothing heard for 10 minutes, then a couple of words from Coco, but then it disappeared. I heard you calling on CW but you did not hear me. I heard half of a syllable and recognised Bill. Of Klaus came part of a word and silence. After that nothing happened. I called North and South, phone and CW but it didn’t help. So 0704 I switched off.
Let us see can it be even MORE poor next time.
From Jean Pierre F1CFA
I was on the net this morning. Just in my corner at the beginning, as usual. Klaus was discussing with Bill and suddenly VK4ZD appeared to me with a 55 signal. I called him and he gave me 55 too. Bill invited some others stations and I was just heard by VK2MCB, VK3JPM. Suddenly Malcolm PA3AHC appeared with a 52 signal and disappeared at once. I suspected Pertti in the background. YO9BC was strong ( 59+) but his transmission was défective. That's all folks !
73s from John G3OKT
20th October 2016
Sorry I shall miss next ROAR nets on both Sunday and Tuesday- school holiday in UK!
