Roar Nets May 29th - May 31st 2016

ROAR Nets Report for 29th and 31st May 2016

0600z - 0630z Anzo Net on 7,110
From Phil VK2MCB
05:59 VK3KCD 40m LSB Peter

0630z - 0730z Europe - Anzo Net on 14,295.2 Long Path
From Nick on June 1st
I see HL16RI has been on again but unfortunately it’s in the middle of the night UK time. However I would also add propagation is not that great.

From Bill VK4ZD on June 2nd (to Nick G4HCK)
The only propagation that was flagged by W6ELprop was on 20m around 0600 local time in Seoul. Kim got up early to try and worked an EA5.
I believe that the allowed period for use of the callsign concludes today.
Kim is away in China and so I understand his fellow radio club members will be activating the station today.
Diane and I are off to Mongolia in the morning.
Propagation really was dismal, wasn’t it?

From John G3OKT
Propagation prediction at 0300z was SFI 88 A 14 K 2 sunspots 31
EA7GSU called CQ at 0626z. Pertti was 5.7 here, beaming NE to Korea looking for the Rotary Convention station.
At 0647z, Pertti gave VK3KCD 4.1, G3OKT 5.7, ZL2JPM 1.1, HB9CQS 5.9, G4HCK “readable”, PA0SDZ 5.7/8, G3LUW 5.9, PA3AHC “not heard yet”, ZL1BFS 1.1 and “not readable”, F1CFA 5.3 to 5.7, and had solid copy of VK2MCB at 5.5.
PA3AHC Malcolm was later copied by Pertti at 4.1 but was only 1.1 here.
F4GHB called in at 0748z. Alain was the strongest station on the net here at 5.9. Alain exchanged 5.9+ with Pertti and was copying VK2MCB at 5.?
VK2MCB Phil was just a recognizable voice here – no copy. HB9CQS heard Phil at 5.7.
G3LUW had no copy of VK2MCB.
ZL1BFS Doug was not copied here.
F1CFA gave Doug 5.1 and got 3.1 from VK2MCB; Jean Pierre gave Les PA0SDZ 5.6 and was 5.3 here.
HB9CQS was 5.9 here (when not beaming NE). Klaus had no copy of NZ signals, but copied G3OKT at 5.6 to 5.7 with fast QSB.
G3LUW was 3.2 here; Brian was heard passing greetings to Les PA0SDZ, and was 5.6-7 with Klaus.
ZL2JPM John was not copied by G3OKT nor Klaus.
G4HCK was only 3.1 here. Nick heard HB9CQS at 5.2 and got 5.5 from Pertti.
PA0SDZ was 2.1 here and in the noise. Les got 5.7 from Pertti.
HB9CQS gave Pertti 5.8 at 0700z, gave PA0SDZ 4.2 and was 5 .9 here; gave G3OKT 5.6/7 (off freq!,) gave G3LUW 5.9, gave F1CFA 1.1, and had no copy of PA3AHC; gave G4GHB 5.5 and G4HCK 5.7/8.
VK2MCB still no copy here at 0700z. F4GHB had heard Phil at 5.6/7 earlier but said he was down to 5.2/3 at 0702z.
By 0706z, the only stations heard here were Pertti 5.7 and Klaus 5.9 as I went QRT.

From Phil VK2MCB
Poor conditions into the UK continued with no contact with John and Nick and poor contact with Brian. All other stations were worked. Tried numerous times to contact HL16RI with no success.

Good afternoon John: I was listening to the frequencies on Sunday 14.287/8 and 14.310 at 2000Z but all I could hear was noise level of S8 or worse. Will be away from my station this weekend but will be back in June. Will keep listening. Noel WD8QHD/VE2, VK2IWT

YO9BC called CQ at 0628.
VK2MCB replied and got 5.3-5 from Coco.
PA3AHC also responded getting 5.5-6 from Coco, but Malcolm was not heard here.
YO9BC was 5.7-8 here in QSB, later rising to 5.9. Coco said Pertti was outstanding at 5.9+20dB, gave HB9CQS 5.5, PA0SDZ 5.6, F1CFA 5.8-9, G3LUW 5.9+ and G3OKT 5.9.
G3LUW was 5.9+10dB with Coco; Brian had no copy of PA3AHC; Brian was 4.1 here.
EA7GSU was 5.7 here, the best and loudest signal of all! Pertti heard VK2MCB 5.6 on average – varying between 5.3 and 5.8; gave 5.9 for both Coco and PA3AHC; gave G3OKT 5.6 and G3LUW 5.7, and gave F1CFA 5.5 (?)
VK2MCB was 3.2 on the spider beam here.
F1CFA was hardly heard here at 1.1, but got 5.1 to 5.3 from VK2MCB.
HB9CQS was 5.5/7; gave G3OKT 3.3 and said Coco was Q3 but very weak; Klaus got 5.8 from Pertti and 5.7 from G3LUW.
At 0640 a harsh and constant “engine” noise came up here at S5 on the doublet antenna only.
EA7GSU was 5.9 with G3LUW, still 5.7 on the spider and only 5.5 on the doublet.
VK2MCB copied G3LUW at 5.3 and Phil got 3.3 from Brian.
PA3AHC Malcolm complained of his high noise level and Pertti said he was very weak.
PA0SDZ Les got 5.8 from EA7GSU – “coming and going” Q5 to Q1, and only S1 in the noise.
YO9BC faded out through 5.1 at 0653z and then came back to 5.9!
EA7GSU was down to 4.1 at 0655z. Pertti reported that he had had no copy of HL16RI at all.
At 0658z all signals faded and all I heard was QRN and noise.
I just heard Pertti say he had lost Malcolm. Les was last heard at 1.1as I went QRT at 0700.

From Phil VK2MCB
Again poor contact with the UK but at least Brian was readable early on but copied me poorly as did John. Could copy Malcolm but could not get a report. Les, Pertii, Klaus and Coco were good contacts.
