VK4ZD was 5.7 at 0630z, dropping to 4.3 at 0700 and faded under strengthening interference from “music” at 0715, and disappeared at 0722z as Bill turned his antenna towards HL16RI in Korea. Bill gave both G3OKT and G4HCK 5.6 at 0630. Nick was peaking 5.4 here, gave me 3.4/5 and Bill 5.7; exchanged 5.9 b/w with OH2BAD. OH2BAD was 5.9+10dB here; gave VK4ZD 5.9 and got 5.8/9; Miika had no copy of ZL1BFS; gave VK2MCB 5.8/9; and gave HB9CQS, PA3AHC and EA7GSU all 5.9? (From Doug ZL1BFS : Thanks John - except that I didn’t give Pertti anything better than a 2.3. Conditions to all European stations from ZL were frankly pathetic.) VK2MCB was 5.6 here, staying strong later as Bill faded. Phil gave ZL1BFS 5.7, EA7GSU 5.9 and got 5.8; gave HB9CQS 5.9; gave both G3OKT and G4HCK 5.7; gave OH2BAD 5.8; gave PA3AHC 4.3; and got 5.5 from VK4ZD. EA7GSU gave Bill 5.8 and got 5.7; heard Nick at 4.1 and G3OKT at 5.7; gave OH2BAD 5.8; and got 5.7/8 from VK4ZD. ZL1BFS was 5.3 with HB9CQS and 5.6/8 with VK4ZD; Doug gave Pertti 5.4, but was not heard here. HB9CQS was 5.9 initially all ways with VK4ZD and G3OKT, but later said Bill dropped to 5.7. At 0655z, Klaus gave EA7GSU 5.4 with QSB, G3OKT 5.9, G4HCK 3.3, VK2MCB 5.7, and OH2BAD 5.9. Klaus called in VK4BLZ and described Len as “very weak” at 0654. Len was just heard here at 1.1, but was “Q5” with VK4ZD and S4 with OH2BAD. PA3AHC was 2-3.3 with VK2MCB and just 1.1 with VK4ZD; Malcolm peaked 5.9 with OH2BAD. Miika was still 5.9+10dB here at 0718 as Miika said Phil “was disappearing”, and gave Bill 5.7. ZL2JPM John was not heard here but was 5.5-7 with VK4ZD and got 4.3 from HB9CQS. ZL1RD Rob was just detected here at 1.1, coming up to 3.1 at 0728 talking to HL16RI; Rob was 5.7 with VK2MCB; and gave HB9CQS 5.7/8 in exchange for 5.5. EA7GSU heard Rob at 5.7 at 0709z, ZL2JPM at 3.1, PA3AHC at 5.6 and VK4BLZ at 4.1 IZ1ERW called in around 0712, but was not heard by others on the net. He was 5.3 here. HL16RI, Kim the operator for the Rotary Convention station in Seoul, was heard by VK4ZD at 0719 but not heard here. HL16RI gave Bill 5.5 in exchange for 5.6. EA7GSU gave VK4ZD 5.6/7, had no copy of Kim, heard ZL2JPM “coming up” at 4.1 and was down to 5.5 here at 0734z. HB9CQS heard Kim at 1.1 and also said he would not be on net (in Berlin) next Sunday. VK4DI appeared at 0723z but was poor copy here at 0730z. Diane exchanged reports with Kim as the net ended. From Klaus HB9CQS Very fine report, John. On Tuesday’s net: Yes you did. Bill was indeed 59. Bill’s S-Meter showed 57 to 59+10. At 06:34z Phil was 59, later dropping to 57. I got 59 from Phil at a start, slowly dropping. Also at 06:34z Les was an unusual 57 but unfortunately Les faded away almost completely. Had a brief 44 contact with Brian and also heard you, John, with a 53, but you both faded away again rather quickly. I QSY’d to 14328 at 07:01z. Worked Bill there at 07:23z. It was 56 b/w. 0800z - 0900z UK 80-metre Net on 3,6942 From John G3OKT Brian, G3LUW, was net control and QSB’d from 5.9 to 5.9+10dB here. All signals were down on usual strengths; also with slow QSB. Brian said with regret that he had received an e-mail from Diana G4MVV to say she is not well enough to attend the ROAR in RIBI AGM on May 14th. G4VUN Peter, a visitor running just 7 watts in N. Yorks, was 5.7 with G3LUW and 3.7 with G2FUU. Peter gave Tommy 5.9; G4VUN was 5.8 here. G3JJR was 5.7-9 QSB here and got 5.7 from G3LUW. John heard G3SZF OK. John explained that although his postal address is Crewe, his new QTH is Newcastle under Lyme. G3SZF Bob was 5.9 here; gave Peter 4.6 and suffered QSB with G3JJR and G3OKT. G7OAI/P was 5.9 here; gave Peter 5.7 in exchange for 5.9. G4LXD Bill said all signals were down with him, most stations dropping below the noise by 0830. G0SQH Derek was 5.8 here and was 5.7 with G3LUW. A good net with plenty of discussion though challenged by conditions. G7OAI/P John will be net control next week. 1200z – 1300z TransAtlantic Net on 14,287/8 or at 1500z on Sunday on 14287kHz or 14.3115MHz From Pertti EA7GSU I started at 1500hrs utc short calling and almost immediately Ken, W8SOO came back. Signal was 55 and I got the same back. Then Malcolm, PA3AHC joined us but like before his signals didn’t carry well enough to Ken. Malcolm was reading him about 50% again. At 1517 my circuit breaker wanted to cut the talking but quick run to supply box saved the situation and boys were patient enough to stay on qrg. Audibility w. Malcolm was good, 57/58. We finished the qso at 1528hrs utc. We maybe too early in the air, Ken was improving towards the end of meeting. Please monitor the band 1700z – 1730z RIBI evening 80-metre Net on 3,693 G3LUW and G2FUU had said earlier that they would listen at 6pm for any callers to the 80m net. 2000z - 2030z N.AM Transcontinental Net on 14,287/8 or 14.310 0700z – 0730z Tuesday 3rd May 2016 NZ 80-m net on 3,693 0630z - 0700z Tuesday 3rd May 2016 EUR net on 14,295.2 / 7,136 +/- Propagation Forecast at 0610z today : SFI 90 A 31 (red) K 4 sunspots 75 From Bill VK4ZD Klaus HB9CQS was 59+10 and gave me 59 - Happy birthday to Karen Phil VK2MCB was 55-7 Brian G3LUW was 44 and gave me 43 Les PA0SDZ was 56 and gave me 57 Malcolm PA3AHC was 22 John G3OKT was 33 From Phil VK2MCB 06:35 PA0SDZ USB 14.295.200 55 57 Les 06:35 HB9CQS USB 14.295.200 59+5 59 Klaus 06:36 PA3AHC USB 14.295.200 Malcolm Could hear Malcolm in the noise, just. 06:41 G3LUW USB 14.295.200 55 43 Brian 06:53 VK4ZD USB 14.295.200 58 Bill 06:59 G3OKT USB 14.295.200 21 John From John G3OKT Corresponding to the prediction A=31 (red), 20m was just noise here with a few fluttery signals. HB9CQS was recognizable only by tone of voice, 4.1 here, in QSO with Les PA0SDZ who was only 1.1 with brief pulses up to S2. At 0645 Klaus gave Les 5.7. G3LUW called Klaus at 0632z and at 0639z; Brian was only 1.1 here on average, with occasional flutter eg to S4 at 0648z. Les and Brian exchanged 4.1 b/w at 0643z. HB9CQS was also 1.1 here with occasional flutters to S2 or S3. Klaus was 5.3 briefly. VK4ZD fluttered in at 0652z but only at 1.1. Brian heard Bill at 2.3 at 0653z. Bill heard me at 3.3 at 0659z. Did I hear Klaus give Bill 5.9? PA0SDZ got 5.6 (I think) from VK4ZD at 0654. VK2MCB and PA3AHC were on the net but were not heard here. F1CFA was also mentioned. VK4ZD closed the net at 0705z. That’s all for now, 73s from John G3OKT 6th May 2016. Sorry I will not be on nets on Sunday 8th May The ROAR AGM weekend is 12-15 May when Tommy G2FUU may be at home for the 80m Sunday net, and Nick G4HCK may be on 20m. If you wish to make any comment on these nets I suggest you send directly to Bill VK4ZD vk4zd@mainlink.net.au for inclusion on the IRFOAR website. |
