From John G3OKT
QSL figures at 0605z were SFI 77 A 7 K 2 sunspots 0 (for the 3rd day running!)
EA7GSU was 5.4 here at 0530, 5.5 QSB at 0608, and 5.7 at 0625 and gave me 5.6. Pertti gave Bill VK4ZD 5.4.
VK4ZD was not heard here at all apart from a few seconds at 3.1 at 0600.
F1CFA was 5.3 to 5.5 here in QSB, gave Pertti 5.3 to 5.9, Klaus 5.7, G3OKT 5.3 and VK3KCD 5.1.
G3LUW gave EA7GSU 4.4 to 5.5 and later 5.9, and got 5.4 to 5.7 from Pertti; Brian got 5.8 from F1CFA and gave 5.7 while he was only 4.1 here. Brian was up to 5.3 here at 0622 and could hear some words from G4HCK but could not understand Nick.
HB9CQS was 5.9 here (up to 5.9+10dB at 0625); gave Brian 5.9; gave F1CFA 5.5 to 5.7; Klaus gave both EA7GSU and VK4ZD 3.3; gave Peter VK3KCD 4.2 and got 3.2; had no copy of Bill VK4ZD
ZL2JPM was apparently on the net but John was not heard by F1CFA nor G3OKT.
VK3KCD was heard by Pertti at 4.1, but no sign of Peter here.
PA3AHC got 5.1 from F1CFA; Malcolm was 4.2 to 5.6 in QSB here then, but disappeared at 0613 instead of returning to Pertti. At 0616 G3LUW gave Malcolm 5.9!.
G4HCK was heard by Jean Pierre and Klaus at 0615, but Nick was not heard here until 0618 at 1.1 only giving EA7GSU 5.8 and getting 5.9. F1CFA heard Nick at 5.7 while Malcolm was only 3.1 to 5.1 in the background.
OH2BAD came in at 5.9+10dB here at 0630. Miika commented that DX conditions were very poor but good for Europeans – HB9CQS was 5.7 and EA7GSU was 5.9.
The net closed at 0635 when PA3AHC was 5.5 here and gave G3OKT 5.4. Malcolm said that he had heard Brian earlier at 5.9 +10dB!
0800z - 0900z UK 80-metre Net on 3,693
From John G3OKT net controller
A difficult net with much QSB and initial QRM from another station.
G3JJR John was probably the best heard here since moving to his new QTH, at 5.9+10dB; John knew Brian was there but could hardly copy; found Tommy G2FUU better, but with serious QSB; had no problem with John G7OAI/P who was solid copy; and had the best signal ever from Bob G3SZF.
G2FUU Tommy found G3JJR and G3LUW difficult.
G3LUW Brian initially gave me 5.9+10dB, could barely hear G3JJR, got 4.7 from G2FUU and found G3SZF strong. Later Brian lost G3JJR and G3OKT completely!
G7OAI/P was 5.9+10dB here, heard G2FUU at 5.7, and G3OKT at 5.9+.
G3SZF was 5.8/9 here; Bob had trouble with G3JJR and G3LUW.
All in all, a difficult net with varying signals and QRM from other stations – particularly for G7OAI/P.
Preliminary discussion was had of ROAR President ZL2JPM’s proposals for remoting during the 2017 Rotary Convention. Brian thought he would not be involved. John OAI described the 3 node system used for RAENET using internet fallback when VHF fails. John OKT said he would try to demonstrate SKYPE driving his transceiver from a pc sound card.
Brian said that Diana G4MVV’s funeral had been held for family on 24th June. An open service will be held at Clayhiden next month.
The net closed at 0850z.

0530z - 0600z Tuesday 28th June 2016 EUR net on 14,295.2 / 7,136 +/-
From Bill VK4ZD
Phil VK2MCB was 33-55
Rob ZL1RD was 58-9+ and gave me 59
Klaus HB9CQS was 44 and gave me 32
Pertti EA7GSU was 55-6 and gave me 55
Peter VK3KCD was 33
John G3OKT was 22-33
Coco YO9BC was 55-6
Brian G3LUW was 11
Malcolm PA3AHC was 11
From John G3OKT
The QSL sunspot number was zero again for the 5th day running!
YO9BC was 5.7 here, saying “the band was almost empty”, and giving Phil VK2MCB S2 with QSB. Coco was copying me OK.
G3LUW was Q5 here at 0530z and later gave me 4.4; Brian gave HB9CQS 5.7 and got 5.9.
VK2MCB gave EA7GSU 5.5 at best and got 5.3. Phil was just detectable here in the noise.
HB9CQS and G3OKT were 5.9 b/w; Klaus heard Phil at 5.4-5 at 0533z
VK3KCD Peter gave HB9CQS 4.2 and got 4.3
VK4ZD was called by HB9CQS at 0535; Klaus heard Bill at 2.2. EA7GSU gave Bill 5.5 and got 5.5/6.
PA3AHC and G3OKT were 5.7 b/w at 0536 (best we’ve had for some time!!), but Malcolm went down to 1.1 before 0600z. Malcolm also got 5.7 from Pertti.
ZL1RD was called by Pertti at 0537z, Pertti having told Phil that Rob was 3.1 with
him, but had no response. Pertti was 5.3 here (gave me 4.1)
G3LUW had no sign of Rob nor any VKs; Brian was 5.7 with Pertti and gave him 5.6.
YO9BC Coco gave Pertti 5.5 to 5.8 at 0535z – “the only station he could hear well” – and got “5.5 on average” from Pertti.
VK2MCB was 3.3 with HB9CQS at 0547z; Phil was still only a thin voice in the noise here.
VK4ZD was suddenly 1.1 here around 0600z, but 5.3 with Pertti who also gave VK3KCD 3.1. Pertti relayed that Bill could hear me at 3.2
Pertti closed the net at 0605z, just as G3LUW and EA7GSU exchanged 5.9+ b/w, Malcolm was 5.8 here and 5.8/9 with Pertti. We discussed that beam direction for best signal did not seem to tally with expectation. Signal levels had also been very variable, and communication with VK/ZL disappointing. Pertti’s new Stepp IR (?) beam seems to work very well.

That’s all for now,
73s from John G3OKT
