This net retimed to 0730z - 0800z for next week

Peter VK3KCD started out at 47 and built to 58. I got 56 initially building up to 59
Reg VK7KK was 58-9 and gave me 57
John ZL2JPM/MM was 58 and gave me 59
Noel VK2IWT was 59+10-15 and gave me 59+20-25
Doug ZL1BFS was 47 and gave me 56

Missed this net due to a Rotary Polio Plus BBQ held at a fellow Rotarian’s home in Canberra which was successful in that we made $850 from donations.

The next day I lowered my Quad to remove the rotator which is away for repairs. Potentiometer problem probably caused by poor operator actions, caused in turn by lack of direction in the Italian instructions. That is my story anyhow.

From QRZ, SFI 100 A 10 K 2 sunspots 52 (increasing).
20m showed no signs of life here until 0800, so it is appropriate that from Tuesday next the net will start at 0800z.
I called CQ at 0733 and just heard HB9CQS and perhaps PA3AHC. Not sure if they heard me.
At 0800 I heard Klaus get 4.3 from Peter VK3KCD.
PA0SDZ suddenly came up to S2 at 0803z and Klaus to 3.1 at 0815.
ZL1BFS was in QSO with HB9CQS; Doug was not heard here until 0847 when we exchanged 3.3 b/w.
F1CFA was 4.3 with HB9CQS
HB9CQS and PA0SDZ both came up to 5.7 on my spider quad at 0820.
G4HCK (?) was 3.3 at 0825. Nick gave Phil VK2MCB 5.3
F4GHB was only 1.1 here but I believe Alain got 5.8 from VK4ZD?
VK4ZD began to punch through at 0828; got 5.6 from Klaus.
HB9CQS gave F4GHB 4.3 at 0832. Alain was 2.2 here.
VK2MCB was just heard here at 0835, when VK4ZD peaked 5.4.
Band still opening at 0838. “woodpecker” appeared at only S1 !!
PA3AHC was 3.1 here and 5.3 with Phil VK2MCB
VK4ZD came up to 5.5; Bill gave me 5.6; It was agreed that a new start time of 0800z be taken on Tuesday.
Bill said to listen out for HL16RI (South Korea) which would be on until the Rotary Convention in 2016
G3OKT and VK2MCB exchanged 5.3 b/w
I went QRT at 0847
 
0900z -1000z UK 80-metre Net on 3,695

Good net today with 8 members; Brian G3LUW was net controller.
John G3JJR was not on net but apparently has had his transceiver repaired.
G3LUW was 5.9+20dB here; gave G2FUU 5.9+
G7OAI was 5.8 here; had an S7/8 noise level; gave G0SQH 3.9 and G3SZF 5.9.
G2FUU was 5.9+10dB here; gave G3LUW 5.8, 5.9+10-15dB for G3OKT and found G7OAI good and readable.
G0PCF was 5.9+10dB
G0SQH was 5.9+10dB with QSB down to S6; was 5.9+5dB with G3LUW
G3SZF was 5.9+10dB here; Bob gave G7OAI down to S7 in QSB
G4LXD heard all stations at 5.9 except G2FUU who QSB’d out, and G7OAI who was 3.3 in QSB. Bill was an excellent 5.9 here.
Good reports were given on G7OAI’s new rig. John will be net controller next week.
The net closed at 0944.

I listened out and called on 14.288 on Sunday at 1200z,1300z and 1400z without result .
 
1800z – 1830z RIBI evening 80-metre Net on 3,693
 
2000z - 2030z N.AM Transcontinental Net on 14,287/8

Had a brief contact on 14.287 with AF1E but it was near a busy frequency and we were covered up by other stations.
We definitely need an alternate frequency/band as a back up. Looking forward to next Sunday.

Peter VK3KCD was 57-8 and gave me 57-8 peaking to 59
Phil VK2MCB has his antenna at ground level for rotator repairs - we exchanged 55 reports
Klaus HB9CQS was initially 56 (without his amplifier) and 58 with it on and built to 59+5 - gave me 57 building to 59
Les PA0SDZ 56-7 peaking at 58 and gave me 55 peaking at 59
John G3OKT was 33-43 initially and built to 58. He initially gave me 43 building to 57
Malcolm PA3AHC was 55 and gave me 44
We closed the net at 0840z

5 Jan 16 – affected by the low antenna - 0800z 14295.2 kHz Long Path
VK4ZD Bill was 55 and gave me 55
VK3KCD Peter was 33 and gave 43
HB9CQS Klaus initially 43, rising to 53 to 4, gave me 53
PA0SDZ Les was 32 rising to 42 and gave me 32
G3OKT John was 31 rising to 53 by 0830Z and gave me 54 at this time
PA3AHC Malcolm was 21 rising to 31 but could not read me
F1CFA Jean Pierre was initially 21 rising to 41 and gave me 41 but very readable in low noise.

At 0803, I heard HB9CQS and VK4ZD emerging from the noise both at 2.1; Klaus was up to 4.3 here by 0807.
PA0SDZ was heard initially by Klaus, but not heard here until 0818. Les got 5.4 from Klaus.
Les came up to 5.5 hollow voiced here at 0830, gave me 3.2 and disappeared!
VK3KCD said HB9CQS was weak at 4.2;
Klaus gave Peter 3,2 “woodpecker” appeared briefly at 0814 at S9+20dB, confirming the band was opening at least from Cyprus!
VK2MCB was weak with Klaus and got 5.4 from Phil.
Phil was not heard here on account of his antenna being very low to fix the rotator; until 0835 when he was 5.4 and gave me 5.3.
VK4ZD was up to 5.4 here in QSB at 0818; Bill heard PA3AHC at 5.5 in fast QSB (Malcolm just detectable here only by tone of voice)
F1CFA Jean Pierre was peaking 5.7 with VK4ZD – not heard here.
G3OKT was heard by VK4ZD at 5.6/7, later 5.7 then peaking 5.8 by end of the net. Bill was 5.7 here at 0835.
HB9CQS gave Bill 5.9 when Klaus was 5.5 here in QSB.
Klaus heard VK2MCB 100%, gave Malcolm 3.3, gave Jean Pierre 3.2 and gave G3OKT 4.3.
The net closed at 0843.
