G4HCK called CQ at 0730 – EA7GSU came back with 5.9 for Nick; got 5.8 in return.
EA7GSU was 5.7 here; Pertti said at 0740z that he couldn’t read VK4ZD, but he gave Bill 5.1 at 0753z, and 5.8 later at 0802z.
G3LUW Brian “was heard” by Pertti
VK4ZD was just heard here at 0740 but no copy; Bill got 5.7 from HB9CQS
HB9CQS exchanged 5.9+10dB b/w with Pertti. Klaus was only 5.5 here.
PA3AHC Malcolm was 5.9 with EA7GSU
VK3KCD was 5.5 with Klaus; but I heard not a squeak from Peter here!
F1CFA Jean Pierre was just heard heregiving reports at 0747 but nothing was copied (1.1?)
“John” (ZL2JPM ?) was given 4.4 by HB9CQS who also gave VK4ZD 5.7/8 at 0750.
VK2MCB was copied by PA3AHC at 4.3 to 3.2, and got 4.3; Malcolm also copied VK3KCD but had no copy of Pertti.
VK2MCB suddenly came up here at 0755 exchanging 5.2/3 b/w with G4HCK. I could only hear Phil on the spider ant; he was 5.3 and gave me 5.2. Phil gave F1CFA 5.3 and got 5.2.
Phil also gave Klaus 5.9 at 0805z in exchange for 5.6 for Phil; Klaus was 5.6 here.
EA7GSU heard Bill fluttering 5.5/6 in QSB at 0806, while Pertti heard Klaus at 5.9+20dB!
VK4ZD suggested starting this net 1 hour earlier next time. HB9CQS amd Bill repeated for clarification that both Tuesday 12th and Sunday 17th 20m nets would start at 0630z.
I left the net to QSY to the RIBI 80m net at 0810z.

From John G3OKT
John G7OAI was net control.
G3JJR had trouble copying G0PCF but John was now hearing G3OKT up to 5.9+10dB on his restored trap dipole antenna.
Likewise I heard John peaking 5.9+ with QSB at 0832.
PA3AHC Malcolm called in at 0825. Malcolm was 5.7 here; gave G3OKT 5.9+; was not heard by G3JJR, G2FUU nor G3SZF; and was only heard by G7OAI on the Hack Green SDR.
Both G3LUW and G4LXD were 5.9+20dB here, though with QSB. Brian gave G7OAI 5.7.
G2FUU Tommy gave Bill 5.9+5dB
G3SZF Bob was 5.9 here; had heard Bruce earlier before he disappeared! Bruce did seem to have some intermittence here between 4.5 and 5.7.
Both G3LUW and G7OAI gave apologies for next Sunday. G3OKT will be net control.

From Pertti EASGSU
Sunday 1500utc Atlantic net.
Shortly before net time when opening the rx I heard only strong S9 static rain but nothing else. The rain ceased about 40 min later but then band was not very much more active. apart of some English and German stations occupying the band, it was practically empty. But I will try once more!!
Also from Pertti: I shall not be available next week on April 17th.
1700z – 1730z RIBI evening 80-metre Net on 3,693

From John G3OKT
Apart from a Russian station at 5.9 on 14.25MHz and another at 5.5 on 14.247, the band was completely dead at 0630z. At 0632 I just recognized HB9CQS Klaus’ voice, but poor copy – 2.1 only I think Klaus gave VK4ZD 5.5? (no trace of Bill here).
I called CQ twice – no response. On the third call, Pertti returned on CW:
EA7GSU 2.1.9 was here at 0645; gave G3OKT 4.1.9; we closed at 0647z and I went QRT at 0650z
From Pertti EA7GSU
The “deadly” quietness (as on Sunday) continued and the only signal I heard on our qrg, was six words of Klaus. He plunged to the surface with S3 and dived under again. I called a couple of times on CW and heard John G3OKT with 419 signal. We changed the reports and went qrt. I kept, though, the rx open but closed it at 0703utc when nothing heard.
From Klaus HB9CQS
Here is what I logged on Tuesday morning:
At 06:32 VK4BZ Bill was 55, improving to 57-8. Got 56 initially and improving from there.
About 06:35z VK3KCD Peter was 42, improving to 56. Gave me 53 and later 58.
At 06:40z VK2MCB Phil was 54, increasing to 57. Gave me 55 for a start and 59 at the end.
We all expected that it was Pertti on CW, but not possible to copy the weak signal through the ongoing QSO.
No other stations worked or heard.
Went QRT at 07:02z
From Bill, VK4ZD
Peter VK3KCD and I exchanged 57 reports
Phil VK2MCB abd I exchanged 55 reports
Klaus HB9CQS was initially 56 building to 59+5 and gave me 56 building to 59
Malcolm PA3AHC was 11-33 and gave me 32 at the end of the net

I went QRT at 0705z

That’s all for now,
73s from John G3OKT
