From John G3OKT : SFI 106, A 16 (red ), K 5, sunspots 61
Interesting conditions – high band noise varying widely from S2 to S5. The occasional “woodpecker” signal was initially only S7 but came up to S9+20dB at 0652!
YO9BGR was 5.9, together with OH2BAD also at 5.9, and VK4ZD who was 5.7 with Miika but there was no sign of Bill here.
George YO9BGR gave G3LUW 5.9, OH2BAD 5.9, G3OKT 5.7, HB9CQS 5.5, F1CFA 5.9 (who returned a report 5.9+20dB!), and VK2MCB 5.7. Coco YO9BC came and went and left George i/c the station.
VK2MCB was just copied by Miika, but again there was no sign of Phil here, even when conditions improved at 0650.
HB9CQS was quiet throughout at 5.5.
G3LUW was just heard calling EA7GSU at 0640; Pertti was 4.9.1 on CW here but not heard on SSB until the end of the net.
OH2BAD heard PA3AHC but there was no sign of Malcolm here.
ZL2JPM was 5.7 with George but again there was no sign of John here.
G4HCK was just copied at 2.1 on the (low noise) spider. It didn’t get any better – Nick was still only just detectable at 0725.
VK4ZD suddenly appeared here at 0655 at 2.2, and was peaking 4.5 by 0700.
G3LUW also came up at 0656 to 2.2 and was peaking 5.7 with Bill.
G3OKT was 5.5 to 5.6 with VK4ZD at 0702. (Bill turned his antenna to contact ZL1BFS? at 0702 and dropped to 1.1 here. When Bill turned back to Eu he was 5.6.
OH2BAD gave VK2MCB 5.7 and got 5.4, gave PA3AHC 5.9, G4HCK 5.7, no copy on ZL2JPM
VK2MCB still no copy; Phil was 5.7 with Brian who was now 3.2.
G3OKT and VK4ZD exchanged 5.7 b/w at 0708
HC8EFQ called in; Geoff was 5.7 with Bill but was not copied by Miika.
PA3AHC was a recognizable voice here at 0712 but not copiable under Russian QRM from 3kHz below. Malcolm was 3.4 to 4.4 with Bill.
OH2BAD suggested that propagation was failing at 0715 – he gave Bill 5.5 and got 5.6/7. Bill gave me 5-5/6 at 0717.
HB9CQS was still 5.5 at 0718, Klaus gave me 5.3 and got 5.8 from Bill.
OH2BAD still 5.9 here at 0720, and Bill 5.6.
G3LUW was 4.3 here at 0723 and was peaking S8 with Bill.
IN3BXL called in – only 3.3 here, but exchanged 5.9 b/w with Bill
EA7GSU was suddenly an excellent 5.9 here on the spider at 0735. Pertti said my signal had come up from 1.1 to 5.8 – also Nick G4HCK. Klaus was 5.8/9 with Pertti, but Pertti had no copy of John ZL2JPM.
The net closed at 0735.

0800z - 0900z UK 80-metre Net on 3,694
From John G3OKT who was net control
A good net supported by 8 callers including Malcolm PA3AHC who was heard by John G7OAI/P at 4.2. Other stations were troubled by the usual high 80m QRM; Tommy in particular said he heard no sign of Malcolm, like me and Brian.
G3JJR was 5.9+20dB here with QSB down to S7 (in spite of being line of sight!)
G7OAI/P John was 5.9+10 also with QSB to 5.8. John will be absent next week.
G3LUW was 5.9+20dB
G2LUW gave me 5.9+20dB, and all of G7OAI/P, G3JJR, G3LUW and G3SZF were 5.9.
G3SZF was 5.9 also here. Bob also will be absent next week with family visiting.
G0PCF Bruce had QSB from 5.9+ to 5.7 but was always excellent copy with his noise piercing audio!
John G3JJR will move QTH to Madeley (Staffordshire) next week; reappearance on the net will depend on his getting up an aerial and on servicing the rig!
Tommy G2FUU will be net control next week.
The net closed at 0900z

From Malcolm PA3AHC
I was there on 80m all right , and conditions this end seemed better as I could hear you all , but not v/v it appears except for the other John’s sensitive portable rig !

VK4ZD was 5.6/7 at 0628 in contact with PA3AHC. Bill soon came up to 5.7 solid and stayed there.
PA3AHC was 4.4-5.5 with Bill, but Malcolm was only just heard here.

Bill said I was peaking 5.7, and gave Coco 5.8/9.
G3LUW was getting VK4ZD at 5.9 and got 5.7/8. Brian was 5.3 here.
I had to leave the net at 0644 – conditions were good today for VK but poor for near Europe.
Coco said he had virtually no ground noise, compared to S7/8 last week.

That’s all for now,
