I am glad to hear you on 40 m next Sunday morning (Next Tuesday I think - webmaster) 0800z - 0900z UK 80-metre Net on 3,694 From John G7OAI/A who was net controller: I opened the net by responding to Tommy's call at 0800z on 3.695, as a strong D station on 92 made our usual spot unusable. We were soon joined by G3OKT and Malcolm, PA3AHC. Derek also joined us a little later. We enjoyed an interesting net, including reminiscences from Tommy & John about WW II equipment, and aviation matters of AVRO and museums. Tommy, G2FUU, 5x9+10-20 John, G3OKT, 5x9+40 Malcolm, PA3AHC, 3x6 with QSB (Good to hear you!) Signed at 0820. Derek, G0SQH 4x6 and later 5x7. At 0649 I heard Bill coming through 41 and then Klaus 31. Signals got stronger and at 0657 I heard and worked also Phil VK2MCB with 41/42 signals. No copy of any other EU's. Via Phil I let J - P know of my qsy to 7132 kHz and we exchanged 59 b/w. But then came Bill (VK4ZD) again with 53 and gave 57 and I did hear also John, ZL2JPM but not readably. J-P and me agreed we shall start Tuesday net on 20m at 0730utc and then qsy to appr. 7132kHz +/- qrm. Afterwards came Steve, G4BVB and Graeme VK2FPQ and we all exchanged reports. So props aren’t so bad on 40m either! There are holes in the sky, we just have to identify them to keep in touch. From Bill VK4ZD by email: OK Pertti, I will see if I can be on the Tuesday net 1 hour later. 40m should also be possible. From Klaus HB9CQS by email: Hello Pertti. Sorry, I started late. Thought we had agreed to start at 07:00z. Bill was Q4 and very weak and Phil was booming in, 59 plus a few dB. Same on the OZ-VK net. Coff's Harbour was just 43 and Melborne a solid 59. At the next opportunity, I will try my new 40 M dipole, up 17 metres From Malcolm PA3AHC I too had only S-5 noise on 20m , which was even worse when I went to 40m @ 7150 , so gave it up . Good idea to try 7132 next week. (halfway through the net ?) That’s all for now, 73s from John G3OKT |
