SFI 96 A 4 (low) K 0 sunspots 52 low, rising
Poor conditions for VK/ZL, European propagation very patchy.
VK4ZD was peaking 4.3 to 3.4 here and gave me 4.4 to 5.5, but Bill faded right away at 0615 and didn’t come back; Bill gave G3LUW 5.4 and got 4.4.
G3LUW was 4.2 here and gave me 3.4.
F1CFA was 4.4 with VK4ZD and gave Bill 5.2-4. Jean Pierre was 5.3 here and gave me 5.5 and Brian 4.1. Jean Pierre gave OH2BAD 5.9 and VK2MCB 5.2, and gave both ZL1BFS and ZL2JPM 2.1.
OH2BAD was 5.9+10dB here but Miika barely copied VK4ZD nor VK2MCB. Miika said earlier that all European signals were 5.9. At 0632, Miika gave Klaus 5.7/8.
PA3AHC Malcolm was not heard either by G3LUW nor G3OKT.
VK2MCB exchanged 5.5 b/w with VK4ZD. Phil was 3.2 here, but was 5.3 with G4HCK and Phil gave Nick 5.2/3 at 0639. At 0640, Phil was 4.2 here and gave me 5.1.
Phil later gave reports : G3LUW 5.3, G4HCK 5.1, F1CFA 5.3, HB9CQS 5.7 and ZL2JPM 5.9.
G4HCK gave VK4ZD 5.2 and got 4.4 to 5.5. I had no copy of Nick.
HB9CQS was only peaking 5.4 here but was 5.9 with Miika. Klaus gave F1CFA 1.1, gave G3LUW 5.4, gave VK2MCB S6-7 and gave G3OKT 4.2. At 0640, Klaus said that VK2BX had come and gone ! (Brian was not copied here at all) but he was still copying VK4ZD and VK2MCB. At 0645 Klaus said I was up to 5.5.
I had no copy at all of either Doug ZL1BFS nor John ZL2JPM.
Klaus reported that Pertti EA7GSU was not well and was receiving treatment in hospital. I’m sure we all send him our best wishes for recovery!
The net closed at 0647.

0800z - 0900z UK 80-metre Net on 3,693
From John G30KT, who was net control.
Signals were down 10-20dB on usual, but a good net was had with 7 participants.
G3LUW was 5.9+10dB here but was surprisingly low strength with Tommy.
G3JJR John was 5.9+10dB and enjoyed good signals all round
G3SZF was 5.8 and experienced serious QSB on both G3OKT and G3JJR
G0SQH Derek was 5.7 here and had little copy of G7OAI. Derek reported that he was not yet allowed to ride his bike, but had managed to walk 3 miles!
G2FUU gave me 5.9+10dB, said G3JJR was readable at first but got difficult later. Tommy received G3SZF very strong.
G7OAI was 5.8/9 here; got 5.7 from G3LUW and barely heard Brian. G3OKT strong, G3JJR and G2FUU 4.9; no copy G0SQH nor G3SZF. John also observed the latter two were poor on his SDR as well.
Next year’s ROAR in RIBI AGM will be in Liverpool. John OAI will investigate 3 possible hotels. Undecided yet on whether it will involve 2 or 3 nights stay.
All were very sorry to hear about Elizabeth and await details of funeral arrangements (2pm on Friday 31st July in Banbury)

The propagation was again dismal.
Phil and I moved to 7.110 at 0620z where he was 59+10 and gave me 59+20

SRI 93 A 5 K 3 sunspots 39 (low and falling)
Had antenna problem (doublet feeder shorted and spider quad still near the ground), also I guess the low sunspot figure corresponded to the poor propagation, so I only managed one contact – VK2MCB was 2.2 here and gave me 4.2. Phil gave F1CFA 5.5. Jean Pierre was only just detectable here.
VK4ZD also just detectable but no copy, apart from hearing Bill mention G3LUW and HB9CQS. Neither of those were heard here. Malcolm PA3AHC was also mentioned but I had no copy here.
I heard Phil QSY to 40m at 0620 – 40m was very lively here, but no sign of VKs around 7110.
The net closed as far as I was concerned at 0620.

I could just exchange 3/2 – 2/1 reports with Phil/VK2MCB on Tuesday before the band closed down for me .
Also heard you folks on 80m Sunday but couldn’t get through the noise .
Hope we’ll be hearing some good news soon about Pertti .
