ROAR Nets Report for 30th August and 1st September 2015
0600z-0630z ANZO Net on 7110

I was unavailable for this net as I was supporting Diane whilst she participated in the ALARA contest.
From Phil VK2MCB
Only Peter VK3KCD and I on today. We both exchanged 5/9 reports. Bill was assisting Diane VK4DI with her ALARA contest.
Net ended at 0625z.
0630z - 0730z Europe - Anzo Net on 14,295.2 Long Path
From the QSL website : SRI 100, A 16 (red, was 43 yesterday!), K 2, sunspots 50.

Not good conditions but it makes you try harder!!
Miika OH2BAD was 5/5 with me and gave 5/5. Miika was working Klaus, Pertii, Jean-Pierre and Nick.
Jean Pierre F1CFA was 5/1 to 5/3 with me and gave similar.
Klaus HB9CQS was 5/7 and gave 5/7 but my signal dropped progressively with Klaus to about 5/3 by the end of the net. Klaus only fell to about 5/5 with me.
Nick G4HCK was a 5/1 and gave me 5/1 (I think).
Peter VK3KCD was a 4/1 but I didn’t get a report.
Pertii EA7GSU was 5/6 and gave me 5/7. He had Klaus a 5/1 and Miika a 5/3
Malcolm PA3AHC was in the noise at 3/1 but I couldn’t get a reply from him.
John G3OKT was a 4/1 sometimes 5/1 but faded into the noise by 0630z.
I went QRT at 0710

OH2BAD was 5.9+10dB at 0626 and at 0708; Miika initially said all Euro signals were 5.9 but had no copy of VK2MCB and was having difficulty with VK3KCD. By 0712, Miika said I was up to 5.9+20dB.
HB9CQS was waving between 1.3 and 4.5 around 0635, but was up to 5.8/9 by 0714. Klaus gave VK2MCB 4.2/3 increasing to 5.7/8. Klaus also gave VK2MCB 4.3. Klaus confirmed his view that 0630z was appropriate for the net start.
I could only just hear Phil; F1CFA gave Phil4.1 to 5.1 and got 5.1 (later no copy), and gave G3OKT 5.1 to 5.5
VK3KCD was 5.1 here; Peter gave OH2BAD 5.4, HB9CQS 4.3, G3OKT 3.3, gave EA7GSU 3.2 and got 5.3; got 5.5/7 from OH2BAD.
F1CFA heard OH2BAD from 5.9 to 5.5 in QSB.
EA7GSU was 2.1 here climbing to 5.7. Pertti heard Klaus at 5.1; had no copy of G4HCK; gave VK3KCD 4.1.
G4HCK was “no copy” from HB9CQS nor G3OKT. F1CFA gave Nick 5.1.
I had no copy of PA3AHC but Miika heard Malcolm at 5.9+ and Pertti gave him 5.9 at 0652.
VK2MCB later gave OH2BAD 5.5. Phil also gave F1CFA 5.3, HB9CQS 5.7 and G3OKT 4.1. Phil came up to 4.2 with me at 0705.
G4HCK came up to just copiable at 0717; PA3AHC also appeared at 0720. Miika gave Klaus 5.9+10dB at 0725.
Before the net closed at 0730, Pertti reported fine his DX on CW on the 10MHz/30m band.
0800z - 0900z UK 80-metre Net on 3,693
From John G3OKT who was net control.
Noisy band as usual, peaking S7/8 here around the net frequency. Signals were generally low with QSB, but John G3JJR came up from 5.9+10dB or less at the beginning, to his old self at 5.9+20dB at the end!
Both G3LUW and G7OAI had given apologies for this net.
G2FUU 5.7/9 here and very strong with G3SZF.
G3SZF had QSB into the noise at S7 initially but came up to 5.9 at 0843
M0JAV/M a visiting Rotarian called in from the Chesterfield Canal. John was a good 5.8 at times but G3SZF and Tommy had difficulty copying. John said he is the Chairman of the RSGB EMC Committee, email address
G2FUU expressed interest in the history of ROAR. I promised to send papers to Tommy from file and from G7OAI, and also Rotary Powerpoint presentations.

I was on air before 0600z.
Jean-Pierre F1CFA was there from the start. He was 57 and gave me 57
John G3OKT was initially 44-56 and stayed at 57 later. He gave me 57
Brian G3LUW was 56-7 building to a steady 57 and gave me 57
Pertti EA7GSU was initially 33 at 0620z building quickly to 57. He gave
me 55 building to 57
Malcolm PA3AHC was initially 44-56 in QSB building to a steady 55-6 and
he gave me 55. Malcolm is planning to be in VK4 the 1st week in November
Klaus HB9CQS was 57. He gave me 59 dropping to 57.
I went QRT at 0700z

At 0556 (early for the net) I heard VK4ZD “fluttering” to peak 4.5 give F1CFA pkg 5.7. No sign of Jean Pierre here.
G3OKT “had fast QSB, missing the odd word” from Bill who gave me 4.4 to 5.6. Later, Bill said I occasionally peaked 5.7
EA7GSU came up as a clear 5.7 here, giving me 4.1, later 5.8/9 at 0620. Pertti was 3.3 with VK4ZD at this time, but peaked 5.7 with Bill at 0630 (when Pertti was also solid 5.7 here on both doublet and spider quad antennae)
G3LUW was 2.4 here, exchanged 5.7 b/w with VK4ZD. Brian had no copy of F1CFA until 0623 when he had good copy of Jean Pierre.
F1CFA came up here at 0620 to 5.6 with slow QSB, giving VK4ZD 5.8, G3OKT 5.2 and EA7GSU 5.9.
PA3AHC was 5.7/8 with Pertti at 0641. Malcolm not copiable here but just a recognizable voice.
VK4ZD went down to a “wavy” 5.5 at 0640 but came back up later.
HB9CQS appeared at 0648 at 5.6. Klaus said VK4ZD had been 5.9 but was now 5.7.
HB9CQS was 5.9 with Pertti.
PA3AHC now 4.4, peaking 5.6 with VK4ZD. Bill was now (0655) a solid 5.7 and stayed that way.
F1CFA was solid 5.5 here at 0655; gave Klaus 5.7. Pertti now 5.7 and hearing Malcolm at 5.7.
The net closed at 0700
