SFI 123 A 20 (red) K 1 sunspots 74 (climbing)
A rather disappointing net today!
Signals attenuated (consistent with A=12?), S5 noise level with splatter to S9 from stations chasing a nearby ZL7E expedition. An EA station was S9+40dB on 14.285, causing splatter.
VK4ZD was net control.
Good copy of Pertti EA7GSU here at 5.6 (or 5.7 on my new spider quad). Bill was 3.7 in the QRM (only 4.3 on the spider); received me at 5.5.
OH2BAD gave Bill 5.9+5dB and was 5.9+20dB here. Miika gave 5.9 to everyone except VK3KCD at 5.4
YO9BC was otherwise the best signal here at 5.7 (on spider); Coco gave Pertti 5.9+25dB; gave VK4ZD 5.9+10dB and got 5.9+5dB.
EA7GSU gave VK2MCB 5.8 and VK3KCD 5.4; Pertti had no copy of Doug ZL1BFS; gave PA3AHC 5.7, HB9CQS 5.9; G3LUW 5.9+10dB, F1CFA 2.1; G3OKT 5.1-3 and ZL1RD 1.6
G4HCK Nick was 5.7/8 with VK4ZD and S7 here but only Q1 in the QRM/QSB!
G3LUW gave VK4ZD 5.9 and was 5.3 here when clear of splatter.
F1CFA and ZL2JPM - no copy here. F4GHB just heard, but no copy.
ZL1RD was 4.4 here on my spider quad. (Only Q2 on the doublet because of stronger QRM.)
0800z - 0900z UK 80-metre Net on 3,693
From John G3OKT
Conditions not good. High winds threatened the antenna.
G3LUW Brian was net control, and was 5.9+20dB here, but with deep QSB. I had a problem with the rig and was only S7 initially with Brian.
G2FUU Tommy also 5.9 here, but short of his usual signal strength.
G7OAI John (at home) was 5.9 here and initially gave me 5.7.
G3SZF Bob was 5.7 with Brian and 5.9 here.
G3JJR was just 5.9 here – 20dB short of John’s usual strength.
G0PCF Bruce was 5.7 here but was 5.9 with G3LUW.
The net closed at 0835z.
G3OKT will be net control next week.
1800z – 1830z RIBI evening 80-metre Net on 3,694
2000z - 2030z N.AM Transcontinental Net on 14,287
0700z – 0730z Tuesday 14th April 2015 NZ 40-m net on 7117
0730z – 0800z Tuesday 14th April 2015 EUR net on 14,295.2
SFI 141 A 8 K 1 sunspots 68 (steady)
From Bill VK4ZD
I delayed calling into this net as the frequency was occupied by an H44 station handling a JA pileup
Jean-Pierre F1CFA was 56-7 and gave me 55
Pertti EA7GSU was 57 and gave me 58-9
Malcolm PA3AHC was 33-45 in QSB
John G7OAI was only 11 with me
John G3OKT was 45-56 and gave me 56
From Brian G3LUW
The net was impossible this morning. YJ8RN/P on OC-110 was operating on 14295. I tried calling on 14290 without success.
From John G3OKT
F1CFA and G3OKT made contact at 5.9 b/w at 0730 having asked the dx station to move QRG. However, at 0752, Jean Pierre had dropped to 3.3! As he said later, conditions were like a kangaroo – he later gave VK4ZD 5.1 to 5.9 in QSB! Bill also noted the fast QSB.
PA3AHC was 5.9+20dB with Jean Pierre, but Malcolm was only 1.2 to zero here.
G7OAI made his first 20m ROAR QSO (being a regular member of the ROAR/RIBI 80m net on Sundays). John was 5.8 with Jean Pierre. John gave Pertti 5.8 to 5.7, but had poor copy of VK4ZD. John was 3.4 here and gave me 5.3/4.
EA7GSU was 5.7 here and exchanged 5.7 b/w with PA3AHC. Pertti gave me 5.7-9 QSB
VK4ZD gave F1CFA 5.6/7, EA7GSU 5.7, PA3AHC 3.4 and got 5.8/9 from Pertti. Bill was fluttering from S2 to S5 here but largely Q5. Bill gave me 4.5, peaking 5.6.
F1CFA gave EA7GSU 5.9 at 0800 and got 5.9+10dB. Jean Pierre also gave G3OKT 5.9+20dB at 0810.
Pertti commented that Malcolm’s signal had QSB over 8 S units!
The net closed at 0815 as VK4ZD became a clear 5.5 here.
That’s all for now,
73’s from John G3OKT
