ROAR Nets Report for 23rd November and 25th November 2014
 
0615z-0700z ANZO Net on 7118

Peter VK3KCD was initially Readability 2 due to storms but peaked 47 by the end of the net and Peter gave me 56 I think
Phil VK2MCB was initially 47 building to 58 and gave me 59
Noel VK2IWT was 59+20 and gave me 59+40
Bryce VK2FADS was 47 peaking 59 at the end and he gave me 59

The net consisted of Phil VK2MCB, Bill VK4ZD, Peter VK3KCD, Noel VK2IWT and Bryce VK2FADS. The net was affected by static crashes from storms in the mid to north NSW and south-east Queensland. Most affected were Bill VK4ZD and Noel VK2IWT who had poor copy on Peter VK3KCD. Phil VK2MCB had good copy on all.  Bryce had good copy on all but Peter VK3KCD, who was in the noise. Peter VK3KCD copied Noel VK2IWT 4/3 and Bryce 4/4.

VK4ZD was 5/9 and gave 4/7 initially but signals built to 5/8 by 0700Z
VK2IWT was 5/9 and gave 5/9
VK2FADS was 5/9 and gave 5/9

Rob ZL1RD was 59+ here, also being heard very well in Europe
Peter VK3KCD was 55-9 and gave me 59
Noel VK2IWT was not copiable - maybe he missed the net
Phil VK2MCB was 57 and gave me 59
Massive QRM from Italian stations 1.8KHz above us forced us to move to 14.294 at 0720z, which was unsatisfactory due to the presence of the heterodyne.
John G3OKT was 57-8 and gave me 59
Coco YO9BC was 59 and gave me 57
Alain F4GHB was 57-9 and gave me 59
Malcolm PA3AHC was 53 and gave me 55 before being lost to the QRM
Les PA0SDZ and I exchanged 43 reports before losing him to the QRM
Klaus HB9CQS was 57 peaking at 59+5 and gave me 57-9
Nick G4HCK and I exchanged 54 reports - back on air after his linear was repaired
Doug ZL1BFS and I exchanged 59 reports
Jean-Pierre F1CFA was 55 and gave me 57
Brian G3LUW and I exchanged 57 reports
John ZL2JPM called in but could not be heard when called
Pertti EA7GSU was 57 and gave me 59
Vlad 9A3KG (visitor) was 33 and gave me 54
I went QRT at 0807z

At 0752, YO9BC was 5.9+10dB here, giving VK4ZD 5.7 increasing to 5.9, and getting 5.9; also getting 5.8/9 from Rob ZL1RD. Coco gave G3OKT 5.6/7.
VK4ZD was very weak here coming up to 5.6 by 0703, 5.7 by 0716 and 5.9+5dB by 0737. From 0800, Bill stayed at 5.9+10dB.
VK2MCB was just heard, no copy.
ZL1RD was 5.7/8 here, increasing to 5.9 at 0710. Rob gave both Coco and Bill 5.9.
VK3KCD was just heard at 0740 giving ZL1RD 5.9, YO9BC 5.7, ZL1BFS 5.7, and VK2IWT 5.3
Noel VK2IWT was not heard at all here
Alain F4GHB was just hearable here and got 5.4 from VK4ZD
PA3AHC got 3.3 – 5.5 from ZL1RD; Malcolm was 4.7 here at 0747 and gave VK3KCD 3.2, YO9BC 4.3 and got 4.3 from VK4ZD. Malcolm had trouble with QRM at 0747, but was 5.9 here by 0807.
PA0SDZ Les no copy
ZL1BFS Doug gave YO9BC 5.5, had too much QRM to hear G3LUW, but was 5.9 with Bill.
HB9CQS was initially 3.3 here and gave ZL1RD 5.9, ZL1BFS 5.6/7, VK2IWT 5.7, YO9BC 5.9 and was peaking 5.9 with VK4ZD. Klaus was 4.7 here at 0748 and suddenly came up to 5.9+25dB at 0757!
G4HCK Nick was heard at 5.4 with VK4ZD but no copy here.
G3LUW gave ZL1RD 5.8, ZL1BFS 5.7 and could just copy Euro stations. Brian was peaking 4.8 here in the QRM, was 5.7 with VK4ZD. Later, Brian came up to 5.9 here and gave Doug 5.9 and got 5.7; gave Pertti and Klaus 5.9; gave me 5.8.
F1CFA was 3.5 here and 5.5 with VK4ZD and suffering heavy QRM from 14.297
EA7GSU was 5.9 here, gave Bill 5.9 and got 5.7, gave Rob 5.8, Coco5.9+, Malcolm 5.9, Klaus 5.9, G3OKT 5.9, Les PA0SDZ 5.9, VK4ZD 5.9, and Nick G4HCK 5.8, but Pertti had no copy of Jean Pierre.
VK4ZD gave ZL1RD 5.9+, G3OKT 5.7. VK3KCD 5.5/9, VK2MCB 5.7, YO9BC 5.9, F4GHB 5.7/9, HB9CQS 5.7, G4HCK 5.4, ZL1BFS 5.9, F1CFA 5.5, G3LUW 5.7 and EA7GSU 5.7
EA7GSU gave VK4ZD 5.7 at 0755, VK3KCD 5.5, VK2MCB 5.7 and VK2IWT 4.4. Pertti felt the VK stations were now dropping.
9A3KG a visitor called Bill at 0756 and got 3.3; he was 5.9+10dB here.
ZL1BFS Doug was 5.7 and gave me 5.5.
 
0900z - 1000z UK 80-metre Net on 3,693

G2FUU Tommy was in QSO with Brian G3LUW at 0856z, both 5.9+30dB here.
Tommy was net control. G3OKT will be control next week and G7OAI will be control on December 7th with G3OKT in reserve in case weather prevents G7OAI/P.
G3JJR was 5.9+25dB and Bob G3SZF was 5.9+20dB.
PA3AHC Malcolm called in  at 5.9 with QSB and just clear of my S9 noise level.
Malcolm received Tommy at 5.9+, G3LUW at 5.5 and G3OKT at 5.9+10dB. G3JJR was only 4.3 with Malcolm and John had no copy. Bob could hear Malcolm but no copy under noise level.
G3LUW gave Malcolm 5.7
G7OAI was at home and heard by G3JJR and G2FUU. John was 5.9+20dB here, 5.7 with Tommy and 5.9 with G3LUW
G0PCF Bruce came in at 5.9+20dB here and copied Tommy at 5.9 QSB
 
1800z – 1830z  RIBI evening 80-metre Net on 3,694
Tommy G2FUU had said he would check this frequency for any callers.
 
2000z - 2030z  N.AM Transcontinental Net on 14,287
Pertti EA7GSU said on Tuesday that this net was very quiet tho’ some very strong stations were heard. Long delay echoes made copy difficult.
 
0700z – 0730z Tuesday 25th November 2014  NZ  40-m net on 7117

This net retimed 0730 – 0800z from next Tuesday 2nd December

Propagation was very late coming
Jean-Pierre F1CFA was 53 peaking to 55 and gave me 55-6
Pertti EA7GSU was 53 peaking to 57 and gave me 55
John G3OKT was 53 and gave me 55
Malcolm PA3AHC was 22 building to 43 by the end of the net and gave me 43
Brian G3LUW was a good 55 and gave me 55 also

From QRZ  SFI 172  A 7  K 2   sunspots 111 (low but rising fast).
At 0702, PA3AHC, EA7GSU, G3LUW and G3OKT were waiting for the “dark line” to pass over. Malcolm was just copiable at 2.5 QSB, Pertti was only just heard here at 2.3 and he gave Malcolm 4.1, though Malcolm was receiving Pertti at 5.8/9; Brian was just heard here at 3.4 and gave me 4.4.
At 0712, Pertti was 5.9 +10db here and 5.9+ with G3LUW, and stayed there for the rest of the net. He gave both me and Brian 5.9+
PA3AHC was still only fluttering 2.1 here and giving me 3.2 at 0716
F1CFA peaked up to 5.5 then went down again with Pertti to 4.1
At 0720, Brian suddenly heard Pertti and both exchanged reports of 5.9+
At 0725 VK4ZD appeared at only 4.5 QSB here, and was 5.5 with Pertti who got 5.3 from Bill.
VK4ZD got G3LUW at 5.5 who was 5.7 here, and got me at 5.3
At 0733 I had an S9+20dB jammer but F1CFA overcame him at 5.9+15dB! Jean Pierre was now also 5.9+ with Pertti but gave G3LUW and G3OKT 5.3, EA7GSU 5.9, and PA3AHC 5.3/2 who returned 5.4.
At 0742, G3LUW gave Pertti 5.9+, Jean Pierre 5.5, PA3AHC 3.3 and G3OKT 5.7.
VK4ZD was 4.8 in strong noise at this time – as strong as he got before I left at 0740.
We agreed to shift to 0730z next week.
