Apologies
received from
John ZL2JPM. His
computer at the
home QTH had
reset preventing
him from
remoting into
his home station
whilst portable
in VK5.
I went QRT at
0812z
From Brian G3LUW
I listened at
0700 to 14295,
but nothing
heard. VK4ZD
started to
appear at 0715
and gradually
increased to
5&9. Phil VK2MCB
was 5&9 both
ways. VK2GWK
Henk was running
barefoot: we
exchanged 5&8,
but I had no
copy on Noel
VK2IWT. Peter
VK3KCD was not
very strong, but
perfectly
readable at
5&5. Doug
ZL1BFS came in
very late, but
we made contact,
both 5&8. All
the Europeans
were readable
and included
Coco YO9BC,
Pertti EA7GSU,
Malcolm PA3AHC,
Les PA0SDZ,
Jean-Pierre
F1CFA. We were
inundated with
non-Rotarian
callers this
morning. Bill
gave most of
them reports
including LY4A,
LZ1LJ and
several
Italians. The
net went on
until well after
the hour.
Klaus HB9CQS
said on Tuesday
“Dear friends -
Sorry, I was in
Copenhagen over
the weekend.
Ought to have
let you know. I
apologize. Cu
next Sunday.”

80-metre Net on
3,6945
From Brian G3LUW
John, G7OAI was
in charge of the
80m net, mobile
from a high
point near his
home. Signals
were very good.
Participants
were G3LUW,
G3JJR, G2FUU,
G0PCF and G0SQH.
Peter G3RZP , a
well known RSGB
Committee
member, called
in from Swindon.
John closed the
net at 0959
after some very
interesting
discussions.
From John G7OAI
The wx was kind
enough today to
allow me to
operate/P, so I
ran the net
today. Opened at
0900, with
Brian, G3LUW.
Soon joined by
John, G3JJR and
Peter, G3RZP,
(who signed out
at 0948) and a
little later
Tommy, G2FUU,
Bruce, G0PCF and
finally Derek,
G0SQH.
All signals were
good to me, 5x9
or better,
except Derek who
was 5x5 with
some QSB. We all
agreed that
conditions were
particularly
good today,
resulting in an
interesting
exchange of
views, with
'armchair copy'
taking us all
the way to 1000.
Brian reported
back about his &
Don's trip to
the AGM hotel,
which was all
good. Presently
7 rooms have
been reserved,
with a request
to have them all
on the ground
floor if
possible. So far
no deposit
required. The wx
precluded any
direct
investigation of
local
attractions, but
plenty of
information was
obtained, with
many options
available. This
information will
be circulated in
the new year,
when members
will be asked to
indicate their
preferences.
Thanks to both
families for
taking the
trouble to deal
with this
important issue.
I closed the net
at 0959.

From John G3OKT
Bill VK4ZD was
heard here at

0715 he was 5.9;
he gave me 5.6.
F1CFA gave Bill
5.9 and got pkg
5.8.
Jean
Pierre was
barely hearable
here at 3.2/3
and with QSB
PA3AHC gave Bill
5.7/8 and got
5.5. Malcolm
started here as
just hearable
4.1, but came up
to 5.8 by 0738.
VK2MCB gave
F1CFA 5.7, G3OKT
5.6 and VK4ZD
5.5. Phil was
5.5/8 here with
QSB, but with a
solid voice not
heard here
before!
A fine
signal on his
new quad.
At 0735, VK2MCB
gave Malcolm
5.7, gave G3OKT
5.7 and gave
Pertti 5.9. Bill
heard Phil at
5.4. However, by
now the VK
signals were
falling – Bill
said I was down
to 5.3.
Malcolm gave
Bill 5.4, gave
Phil 5.5 and
gave Jean Pierre
5.4 (just above
his noise).
As the net ended
at 0745, Pertti
gave Malcolm
5.8/9, and F1CFA
and G3OKT
exchanged 5.9
