From John G3OKT
The Band was quiet at 0720 with just S4 noise; suddenly came alive at 0732.
Initially, I heard Pertti EA7GSU at 5.9 giving Doug ZL1BFS 5.6, Alain F4GHB 5.9+10dB, and G3OKT 5.9 but poor copy on VK2MCB and VK3KCD. John ZL2JPM was 5.5 with Pertti; just hearable here.
Bill VK4ZD got 5.8 from Pertti; Bill was 5.5 with me and gave me 4.2.
Alain F4GHB was 3.4 with me; gave me 5.3?
Brian G3LUW was 5.7 here, got 5.3 from Bill and gave VK4ZD 5.6
Henk VK2GWK got 5.5 from Brian and 3.6 with me suffering local noise and station splatter from 14.297. Henk suddenly came up to 5.8 with me at 0803.
At 0806z, John EA/G4HMG came up to 5.9 with me, saying that VK4ZD had now come up from 3.3 to 5.7
Malcolm PA3AHC was not strong, fluttering to 2.3 but got 5.3 from Henk and 4.3 from Bill
VK2GWK called Pertti and got 5.7. Henk gave him 5.5/6. Pertti was still 5.8 with me.
EA/G4HMG gave Henk 4.4, G3LUW 5.9+20dB, PA3AHC 5.8 and EA7GSU 2.2
By 0808 both VK4ZD and VK2GWK were 5.9+10dB with me !! Both gave me 5.8.

Doug ZL1BFS was now up to 5.7; gave me up from 2.3 earlier to now 5.5; he and G3LUW exchanged 5.6 b/w;
Klaus HB9CQS gave ZL1BFS 5.7 and got 5.6; Klaus gave Brian 5.7 and got 5.6
Peter VK3KCD, just hearable previously, came up to 5.6 and suddenly disappeared under my local qrm
Rob ZL1RD was 5.6 with VK4ZD and better than 5.5 with me under local noise that started at 0820. Between noise bursts, I heard Phil VK2MCB at 5.6 and Klaus at 5.9+20dB. Brian G3LUW gave ZL1RD 5.8 and got 5.9. Brian gave Bill 5.8.
At 0835, John EA/G4HMG was getting Rob ZL1RD at 5.9 but was only being received at 4.1/2! Both G3OKT and HB9CQS were also getting Rob at 5.9.

Bill VK4ZD said that I was now touching 5.9 (?); Alain F4GHB was also now stronger and 5.9 with Bill and EA/G4HMG but only 2.8 in my local noise. Alain was called by ZL1BFS and given 5.4.
I pulled out at 0834 as my local noise continued at S9+10dB. Only Klaus came over that at 5.9+25dB!

It was really a good qso between us and I always appreciate this Net on Sunday. Have a nice week my friends

From Malcolm PA3AHC
Indeed, Rob/ZL1RD was the star on the Europe-Anzo net, but sorry I couldn't work him.
I heard nothing on the Trans-Atlantic 20m net at 1200z.
Re Tuesday, Wales and NL seem to have developed a pipeline on 40m, although 80m is unreliable. After the 40m net closed, I was still experimenting with a low-power rig and inefficient antenna systems when VK4YB(?) came on at about 3/3 and was worked by a bunch of EU hams. Interesting.

0900z - 1000z UK 80-metre Net on 3,693
From John G3OKT who was net control
Brian G3LUW was 5.9+30dB.
John G7OAI was running 50W from home and suffering “end-stopping” QRM, probably from a local Internet distribution system. John could only hear Tommy at 3.3 but was hearing me at 5.9+. Brian was getting John at 5.7
John G3JJR got 5.9 from Brian. Said Bruce, Don and Derek were good signals but could only just copy Alain.
Alain F4GHB was 5.9+10dB here; gave me and Brian 5.8, but was suffering French station QRM
Tommy G2FUU was 5.9+30dB here; got 5.9 from G3LUW, 3.3 from G7OAI and was getting Brian 3.4 – 5.9 with deep QSB
Malcolm PA3AHC called in but was not heard again
Bruce G0PCF was 5.9+20dB here
Derek G0SQH was 5.9+10dB with me; got 5.7 from G3LUW
Don G0JWE was copying G7OAI and G3JJR but not G0SQH
We discussed attendance at the ROAR/RIBI AGM near Chester in May; I closed the net at 0950z.
G7OAI will be net control next week (19th)

1200z - 1300z International Net on 14,293
From Pertti EA7GSU
Afternoon Atlantic net at 1200utc on 14292kHz did not promise much. I
had to go on CW to get Mike N4PF but signals were rising towards the
end of the short sked. Mike was 569/54 in QRM and I received 579/34 back.
Klaus, HB9CQS was present but had no proper copy of Mike. With me he
was 59. Alain, F4GHB made a brief stop-over with 58 both ways before
leaving for lunch (?).
I closed the net at 1223utc when no more check-in's appeared.

1700z - 1730z UK evening 80-metre Net on 3,692
From Pertti EA7GSU
UK net 1800hrs utc 3692kHz
I remembered the RIBI net time correct and was on 3695kHz at 1800hrs
utc with EA/G4HMG and G3LUW. John was 59+10 and Brian 59 but I had
some qrm in receiving Brian. Several calls did not wake-up anybody
else and John closed the "UK"-net at 1825.

2000z - 2030z N.AM Transcontinental Net on 14,287
From Bob WB7RQG
We had 6 checkins today. I was net control
The following joined; Ed, N4EDT who copied pertti, EA7GSU
Jack, KF5BD Joe, W0TBC got a 5by5 from PERTTI
Randy, N2RRR and Pertti, EA7GSU

From Pertti EA7GSU
The band appeared to be empty before the opening hour but then I
heard on the very quiet band Bob, WB7RQG and Joe, W0TBC with 41/31
signals. Then Ed, N4EDT pressed the pedal and was 59+10 giving me 55!!!
There were more inaudible stations but suddenly Joe found the big
switch of his PA and was booming in with 54 signal. We made it! and I
got 55 from him. He said to be using only 100W and I wondered if he
switched off the PA and that was why he suddenly came so much better through!
That net closed at 2027utc.
The late opening of 14MHz to W/VE is back. It means Spring ?

0700z – 0730z Tuesday January 14th NZ 80-m net on 3693

0730z – 0830z Tuesday January 14th EUR net on 7178
From QRZ SFI 143 (204) A 7 (4) K 2 (2) Sunspots 102 Figs in ( ) last week
From John G3OKT
Less sunspots this week, conditions mediochre for Europe.
I first heard Pertti EA7GSU 5.6 b/w (though he was 5.9 on my vertical)
Brian G3LUW was up 5.7 QSB. At 0752 Brian gave Pertti 4.9 but couldn’t hear me well at all. Pertti gave Brian 5.9+.
Malcolm PA3AHC called in at 0800 but Pertti had poor copy. Malcolm was 5.8 here, and gave G3LUW 5.7/9. Pertti was now copying me at 5.9+10dB transmitting on vertical instead of doublet. Brian was 5.8 but could still only hear me at 3.4.
Alain F4GHB came in at 5.9+20dB here; He and Pertti exchanged 5.9 b/w.
Alain exchanged 5.9+10dB with G3LUW, and gave G3OKT 5.9+20dB. Alain gave Malcolm 4.6 and was having difficulty understanding. Malcolm went down to 5.6 around 0812 and said he copied Alain at 5.5.
IZ1WTM, a visitor Pierot, was 5.6 with Pertti, 5.9 with G3OKT and 5.9+ with Alain.
By 0820 Malcolm was back up to 5.9 with me, gave Pertti 3.3 but Pertti had no copy. Malcolm was using his long wire – next time he thought the G5RV might be better.
Pertti said that Spanish legislation might change to allow a .POLIO callsign for 2015.
The net closed at 0825.

From EA/G4HMG and Pertti EA7GSU
(John) Very sorry but I got involved in some heavy finance work this morning and when I eventually looked at the clock you were both long gone.
(Pertti) HELLO John, Good net, we were 5 members and a visitor. Just after my first call before anybody else I got reply by N8SWC (within the net time) and we changed 58 both ways. He didn't comment about the "rotary".
Next time better, I hope you got the heavy work done by then, hi.

That’s all for now,
John G3OKT
