Background random noise at S3, band lively with broadcast music (!) and other activity. VK/ZL generally not strong; many reports were missed in QSB and noise. Apologies had been given by Peter VK3KCD.

ZL1BFS Doug was peaking 4.6 in QSB. Doug was 5.6 with Klaus who also heard John ZL2JPM at 5.5/6 and Phil VK2MCB at 5.7/8.

From Doug ZL1BFS
Just as a matter of interest, the 130km/h storm brought down my 20m Collinear aerial about an hour before the net. I wasn't expecting much, but I entered the net on my "emergency" aerial - a 43 foot monopole. I could hardly believe how well it worked!
0900z - 1000z UK 80-metre Net on 3,694
From John G3OKT
G3LUW Brian was net control at 5.9+30dB, G7OAI John was 5.9+25dB, G3JJR John, G0PCF Bruce, G2FUU Tommy and G0SQH Derek were all 5.9+20dB and G3SZF Bob was 5.9+15dB. All stations therefore riding over my S9+10dB noise level! John OAI suggested taking a portable rx on walkabout to see if the noise was locatable due to my new faster broadband.
Bruce heard G3LUW and G3OKT at 5.9+20dB but said that G7OAI was unreadable under his S9 noise.
G3OKT will be available for net control next week.
The net closed at 0950.
1800z – 1830z RIBI evening 80-metre Net on 3,694

F1CFA had given apologies for this net.
We had a discussion on how shifting between 40 and 20m during the net might involve more of Eu and ANZO stations.
The net closed at 0810.
That’s all for now,
73’s John G3OKT
