40m seemed good at 0535 when I heard a “lighthouse
station” EG1LWI giving a ZL 5.8 on 7120 (the ZL was 5.6
here). No sign of ROAR. I had already received from John
ZL2JPM “Alas,
I’ll not be on air tonight – the family call.
Hopefully the flux readings of 112, 3 & 1 will
be enough for many of us.”

usual sheltering from the weather under a dam wall!
John agreed to be Net control next week and Bob expected
to miss the net because of visiting family (a Bank
Holiday w/e in the UK).
Brian and John asked to be kept informed of the visit of
Peter VK3KCD to London during the week of October 5 –
10th
Some Rotary activity was discussed and the net ended at
0855.
From Malcolm PA3AHC
I've still got the Dutch at 692 and the Belgians at 700,
so remain sandwiched ! There's also now a dreadful local
(?) noise in the top half of the band which doesn't make
things easier. Maybe when the times change around again
I'll have better access.
1700z – 1730z RIBI evening 80-metre Net on 3,694

Sunspots 92 (down)
In agreement with the QRZ figures, 20m seemed rather
“soggy” this morning, though I now discover that the
white noise that was limiting on all signals up to S6
was due to a hard drive left running on my shack
computer! Even so, VK4ZD who was 5.9 at this time on
Sunday never rose above 5.7 and was gone into my “noise”
by 0725.
EA7GSU was the best signal at 5.9+10dB though EA/G4HMG
was also strong here at 5.9+.
Pertti gave me 5.8/9, G3LUW 5.9+, PA3AHC 5.9,
and G3JJR 5.6.
I had no copy of John G3JJR here.
G3LUW got 5.5 from VK4ZD and 5.9+20dB from EA/G4HMG.
Brian was 4.5 here and gave me 5.5
F1CFA was 5.8 with VK4ZD who was 5.9 with Jean Pierre;
Jean Pierre was not heard by G3LUW or G3OKT, and got
only 1.1 from Pertti.
EA/G4HMG got 5.5 from G3LUW and was 5.5/6 with VK4ZD
VK4ZD was 5.8 with G4HMG and gave John 5.6; got 5.5 from
PA3AHC and gave Malcolm 5.3/4.
G3JJR (though line of sight here, was under my noise)
was 5.8 with EA/G4HMG.
PA3AHC was under my noise but was touching the S meter
1.5?
From Pertti EA7GSU
Net started with Brian, G3LUW who was 59+10db and spoke
with John,
EA/G4HMG whom I did not hear. Bill, VK4ZD came 58 and
spoke with Jean
Pierre. J - P's new antenna is so selective that his
signal past my
house by about 200m! He was 11. Bill gave me 57/8 which
I found good
using only ground plane antenna 4m up. John, G3OKT with
strong 58
giving 59 to me and John, G3JJR was 56 giving 58.
Malcolm was good
59/59 but he neither heard J - P.
A good net with 8 members!
From Jean Pierre F1CFA
This morning I was just playing in a different room...Or
like as a schoolboy put in a corner to punish him !
A special thanks to Bill VK4ZD which was giving me five,
instead of Pertti, John, Brian, Malcolm, Spanish John
who ignore me, sending the ball to each other, even if
sometimes, with the QSB, I heard someone dealing with a
new recipe for the kitchen !!! ( HIRS ).
I'll report this to my club !
That’s all for now,
73’s
John G3OKT
