Hans HB9CKC (visitor) was 55 and gave me 57. He was running 100w into a vertical from Berne

From John G3OKT
VK4ZD was his usual 5.9+10dB, picking up to +15 over 9 by 0805z. Bill gave both Pertti and me 5.7. At first, Bill’s audio was very toppy with his Silver Eagle contest microphone, but he dropped the input level and became much more readable.
Klaus was a “hollow” 5.7 at 0700 picking up to a noisy 4.8 at 0740 and 5.9 at 0800. Klaus and Bill exchanged 5.9+10dB b/w.
Malcolm PA3AHC was hardly heard here (perhaps 1.5 in the noise), gave Bill 5.6 and received 5.5/6 from VK4ZD
Brian G3LUW was peaking S6 here but not readable! Gave VK4ZD 5.7 and got 5.5.
John ZL2JPM exchanged 5.6 b/w with HB9CQS, but I missed the rest of his reports under QRM from a S9+10 carrier being tuned up!
Noel VK2IWT was 5.5 with me between QRM from a nearby DL station, was 4.4 with G3LUW, 5.6 with ZL1BFS, could not be copied by CT1BJZ, gave 5.5 for EA7GSU and received 3.1 from Pertti.
Noel VK2IWT heard Les PA0SDZ at 5.5, but I could barely detect Les at 1.6 under the noise!
ZL1BFS was peaking 4.8 in heavy noise with G3OKT, was 5.7/9 (later 5.9+10dB) with VK4ZD, and was 5.7/9 with HB9CQS. Doug gave Klaus 5.7/9, G3LUW 4.4, G3OKT 5.4
CT1BJZ got 5.9+10dB from VK4ZD and was 2.7/8 in noise and QSB here. Vitor said he was copying ZL2JPM, and got 2.1 from Pertti.
EA7GSU gave VK4ZD 5.8/9, gave ZL1BFS 5.8, 4.1 for HB9CQS, 3.1 for PA3AHC, 3.1 for G3LUW, 5.8/9 for G3OKT, and 5.2 for ZL2JPM.
F1CFA got 5.7/8 from VK4ZD but I couldn’t copy Jean Pierre here at all. He left at 0730z.
F4GDZ/Mobile, a visitor, Jean Noel near the Belgian border, was not heard at all here, but got 5.6/7 from VK4ZD
IW0ROT, a visitor Mario south of Rome, was 5.9+15 here with 1kW to a Moxon 2 el quad, got 5.5/7 from VK4ZD
PA0SDZ got 5.7/9 (?) from VK4ZD, called John ZL2JPM at 0800 but he didn’t come back. Les was 4.5 with Klaus. ZL2JPM was fluttering to S7 syllable by syllable here but was difficult to copy. John gave me (G3OKT) 3.1.
HB9CKC, a visitor Hans near Bern, was 5.5 with VK4ZD but not heard here.
At 0752 Pertti was 5.9+5dB here; he gave Klaus 5.7, Malcolm 5.8, Les 5.8 and got 5.7 from VK4ZD.
Bill described the progress of a category 5 cyclone (300 kph winds) progressing south, but now down to 120kph in Qld with heavy rain, and threatening 1.5m tide surge as it headed towards NSW. Bill and Diane will be with family in VK6 area for the Easter w/e, but might get on the net c/o Wally VK6YS.
Richard, the IFROAR Editor would welcome input for the next issue of the Communicator within next week.

0800z - 0900z UK 80-metre Net on 3,693
From John G3OKT
Brian G3LUW was net control, and his usual 5.9+30dB here.
Also checking in were John G3JJR 5.9+20, Tommy G2FUU 5.9+25, and Bruce G0PCF 5.9+10. Bruce noted his S9+5dB noise level, and that Brian QSB’d down at times.
We discussed prospect of a G4KTX legacy to ROAR from John Goldsmith through the RC of Witham. Issue deferred to AGM in May for discussion, including Mike G8LES’s suggestion for a ROAR video.
John JJR had contacted Jill Sparrow, who would like to meet us at the AGM under her own arrangements if she can sort “dog sitting”.
It was acknowledged that Phil G4DCI will not be able to attend the 2014 AGM.
Brian encouraged ROAR in RIBI to look forward and retain momentum for the 2015 AGM
Tommy and Brian thought they might look in on today’s 1800z RIBI net.
G3OKT will be net control next Sunday; Brian may be able to attend. The net closed at 0845z.

1200z - 1300z International Net on 14,292
From Pertti EA7GSU
As usual I got Mike back to my first call with 53 signal on 14292kHz.
I got the same and band seem very quiet. Malcolm joined us and the
reports were the same, 53 both ways. I heard familiar pronunciation
calling and it was Pasi, OH1TG who has not been with us for some time.
Prop's were poorish to that direction as well and Pasi made it short.
Suddenly the gate opened and reports rose to 57 / 58 with Mike and to
59+ with Malcolm. We chatted until 1226utc.

1800z – 1830z RIBI evening 80-metre Net on 3,692
From John G3OKT
I believe Tommy G2FUU and Brian G3LUW were going to check in but I was unable to be there.

2000z - 2030z N.AM Transcontinental Net on 14,287

57/8 // 55. I heard a number of stations, some loud some hardly
audible: WB7RQG, NI6GER, W3DEL, VE3OWS, VE3YN. There was also visitor from EU: Mario, IC8AIK.
All together propagations were quickly changing bouncing from S9+ to
NIL The net closed at 2031utc.

0700z – 0730z Tuesday 15th April 2014 EUR net on 7150
SFI 150 A 8 K 3 sunspots 105 (rising)

From John G3OKT
Oops, my mistake. Called CQ 0800 until 0812 without success! Sorry got the time wrong, but 40m in excellent condition – W, PA, DL, G stations at S9++
From Pertti EA7GSU
We were Brian, G3LUW, John, G4HMG and me. We kept jumping from one qrg to another because of strong qrm but managed to keep together. Brian was 58 giving the same to me but John was unreadable. There was some discussion of meeting with Helga, XYL of Laszlo, AD6XX (SK). We closed about 0722utc.

That’s all for now,
73’s
