0515z – 0600z ANZO Net on 7118
From Peter VK3KCD
Was slightly late getting on to 40mx this week and found Bill VK4ZD and John ZL2JPM in QSO I had Bill at 5x9 and John about 3-4x2-3.
0600z - 0700z Europe - Anzo Net on 14,293 Long Path
From Peter VK3KCD
On 20mx my only contacts were with Bill VK4ZD 5x9, Brian G3LUW 3x3, Klaus HB9CQS 5x7-9 and Wally VK6YS initially 5x9 but falling to 5x6-7 quite quickly. Other signals were either inaudible or not copy-able. Propagation was difficult and deteriorated after 0630z.
From Bill VK4ZD
Challenging propagation this week.
Coco YO9BC was first heard at 57 and later at 0657 came up to 59, giving me 59+
John ZL2JPM was 57 and gave me 59 but left early due to no European signals heard
Jean-Pierre F1CFA was 53 and gave me 55
John EA/G4HMG was only 31 and gave me 44
Peter, VK3KCD was 59
Brian, G3LUW was 31 and gave me 44
Klaus HB9CQS was initially 55-6 building to 59 at 0655z
Wally VK6YS was 59
Vitor, CT1BJZ was initially 42 building to 53 and gave me 53-4
Malcolm PA3AHC was on frequency but not heard here
Pertti F/EA7GSU/M was 31 with me and appeared to copy me Q5
From John G3OKT
During this net, I heard the Tajikstan harmonic continually at S9+15dB with strong musical modulation and occasional QSB down to S7 and also occasional S9 QRN.
Random noise stayed at S7 at least. VK signals were very weak for many European stations.
Peter VK3KCD was in QSO with Klaus HB9CQS at 0600z, but I could only just detect familiar voices in the noise from VK – no copy by me or Malcolm PA3AHC, who I couldn’t hear either!
HB9CQS had no trouble hearing Peter and gave him 5.7; Klaus also gave Wally VK6YS 5.7
VK4ZD’s voice was just recognisable.
Bill dropped out of the QSO at 0635 to allow Europeans to continue.
F1CFA Jean Pierre was not a good signal with me either – perhaps 3.6; Jean Pierre gave me 5.4
HB9CQS still had the bad throat he picked up in Lisbon, but it didn’t affect his signal!! He started at 4.9 in the noise with me and came up to 5.9+30dB!
Klaus could hear Malcolm and Vitor CT1BJZ OK, and gave EA/G4HMG John 5.9.
G3LUW Brian was very weak with Klaus and hardly detectable (4.4?) here – Brian came up to 2.7 later.
Brian could hear VK4ZD and VK3KCD at 4 or 5.4 and gave VK6YS Wally 5.6. Brian said later he could hear me at 4.3
EA/G4HMG John gave VK4ZD 4.4; John was 4.7 with me. I heard John ask Bill to call me in but heard nothing from Bill.
Pertti F/EA7GSU/P was 5.9+10dB from his car, a fine signal from Pilau (?) 100km North of Montpelier, but with QSB down to 3.7. Pertti gave VK4ZD 5.6 and got 3.1; Pertti gave Malcolm PA3AHC 5.7/8, G3LUW 5.9 and Coco 5.9+20dB. He could not copy Klaus at this stage, and called in Vitor.CT1BJZ
Vitor was detectable by me (Q4-5 under the QRM) and I heard Klaus thank Vitor, Carlos and Manuel for their hospitality and hard work in Lisbon. We would all agree with that! Pertti was receiving Vitor at 4.4.
YO9BC Coco came in briefly at a massive 5.9+20 with me and gave Pertti 5.8/9. Coco was 5.9+10dB with Klaus who gave me 5.9+10dB, and Brian 5.9+20dB. Klaus had no copy of Jean Pierre F1CFA nor Pertti F/EA7GSU/P.
VK4ZD Bill came back into the net at 0655, still a recognisable voice but no copy by me, way down in the noise and QRM. Klaus gave Bill 5.7/8. Coco said Bill had been 5.7 earlier but was now 5.9+! He gave Klaus 5.9+10dB
HB9CQS closed the net at 0710, I could just hear John EA/G4HMG 4.7 under the QRM.
I had mentioned that Pasi OH1TG might have joined the net, but nothing was heard. Pasi later e-mailed : I was on band trying to listen to the Europe - Anzo Net, but I did not hear anybody. I wonder if I were in the right place at the right time. In summer our time is 3 hours ahead of UTC. So, I was there at 0900 and stayed on frequency for about 20 minutes. I heard nobody. I think I was on the right frequency because the whistling BC sound was there again. Very strange, hi. I had not the chance of being there in the afternoon. I think it is high time I started doing something about my antenna. For the time being I only have a trap dipoleI
(JT) will be absent from the nets until 28 July but will continue compilation of reports by e-mail.
0800z - 0900z UK 80-metre Net on 3,694
John G3OKT was Net Control
G7OAI John was /P up the in the hills; He was a fine 5.9+30dB!
He gave me S9+20dB and Brian 5.7/8G0JWE
Don was 5.9+25dB, he gave me 5.9 and said he couldn’t hear Brian.
In fact, mine was the only station he could hear.
G3LUW Brian was 5.9+30dBG2FUU
Tommy was 5.9+30dB but had high noise and QSB at his end, at one point, my signal disappearing for 10 secs. I was only S9 (and not S9+ as usual).
G4LXD Bill near Thetford called in – he missed most of what G0JWE said.
Bill was 5.7 with G7OAI and 5.9 with G3LUW. I was 5.9+10dB with Bill.
Tommy and Brian were 4.6 with G4LXD.
G3OKT said that his poll of ROAR in RIBI members had given positive support for the May 16/17th w/e in May 2014 for the next AGM and also agreement to an extra day for local visits. John G7OAI said the Q Hotel near Warrington was his first choice for the meeting.
John G7OAI also confirmed his contact with the Rotary Station CR6RI (Carlos) in Lisbon.
Brian G3LUW will be Net Control next week, and Tommy G2FUU the week after.
The net closed at 0846z.
1200z - 1300z International Net on 14,293
From Klaus HB9CQS
Since Pertti is heading for OH-land and mobile, I will report briefly on this Sunday’s transatlantic net.
At 12:00z three stations were heard here:
Pertti, F/EA7GSU from a place north of Montpellier was 57 here and gave me 57-58.
Coco, YO9BC, was booming in with a 59+25 signal and gave me 59+.
Malcolm, PA3AHC, was again weak here, starting at 54 and fading to 33. Malcolm gave me 57 for a start.
I am certain that I heard Mike, N4PF, but I could not read anything.
Pertti fared slightly better. He could read a few words but not enough to establish a contact.
We gave up and closed the net at 12:15z.

Brian, KD5PHF who asked for info on joining Rotary, Reuben, W2LGF, David AA9PK, Pertti EA7GSU , Noel, WD8QHD/VE3Joe, AF1E and Dan, KB6NV a guest.
I acted as net control.
0700z – 0730z Tuesday July 9th NZ 80-m net on 3693
0700z – 0740z Tuesday July 9th EUR Net on 14,150
From John G3OKT
QRZ forecast SFI 119, A6, K0 was better today, but propagation still not good.
I put out a CQ at 0700 and got OE6MFG/QRP – Gerhard running 5 watts from near Graz; he was 5.9+10dB!
G3LUW Brian was there and gave Gerhard 5.6 but was at best 4.7 with me.
EA/G4HMG John gave Brian 5.5, was 5.7-8 with me but couldn’t copy me at all.
Brian couldn’t copy me well so we closed the net at 0720z.
That’s all for now, 73’s to all
