0645z-0730z ANZO Net on 7118
From Peter VK3KCD
Good conditions on 40mx this week with Bill VK4ZD, John VK/ZL2JPM (in VK4ZD shack), Doug ZL1BFS, Noel VK2IWT and Bryce VK2FADS (just returned from a Rotary project in Vanuatu). I shall be absent next week.

0730z - 0830z Europe - Anzo Net on 14,295 Long Path
From Bill VK4ZD
This Sunday we had the pleasure of John ZL2JPM and his wife Helen visiting us. John participated from Lockyer Waters as VK/ZL2JPM.
Peter VK3KCD was 59 and gave me 59+
Doug ZL1BFS and I exchanged 59+10 reports
Pertti EA7GSU was 57. He gave me 56-7 later building to 59
Jean-Pierre F1CFA was 55 and gave me 58
Alain F4GHB was 58 and gave me 59
Malcolm PA3AHC was initially 43-54 but deteriorated later in the sched
Klaus HB9CQS was 59+5 and gave me 59+10. He advised that Karen was improving after her medical procedure
Brian G3LUW was initially 42 building quickly to 58 and gave me 55 building to 59.
Vitor CT1BJZ was 55 and gave me 57
John G3OKT was 57-9 and gave me 59+10-15

From John G3OKT
Good conditions for ANZO today after 0800 but intra-European propagation patchy. The “grey line” (as Brian G3LUW calls it) came through here at 0755z and the band opened. Brian experienced it earlier, and I heard him talking to VK4ZD - at 0744 he gave Bill 5.5. I heard nothing of Bill until 0755 when he suddenly appeared peaking 5.9+15dB, easily riding over a serious but intermittent “wow wow” random noise signal at S9, and stayed that way until the net closed. Bill gave me a solid 5.9.
Pertti EA7GSU was just hearable at 0732 but was up to 5.9 by 0755. He gave VK4ZD 5.8, gave ZL1BFS 5.7, and gave me 5.1
Brian G3LUW could only just be heard here at 0736, but fluttered up to 5.8 by 0910z. Brian gave VK4ZD 5.9 and Klaus HB9CQS 5.9
ZL1BFS Doug was 5.5 with G3LUW who gave him 5.3 at 0750z. Later, Doug came up to 3.8 with me (pity about the QRM) and gave me 5.4. He was 5.9+10dB with VK4ZD
HB9CQS Klaus was only 2.3 with me at 0750 when he gave ZL1BFS 5.9, but was 5.8 with me by 0810. Klaus gave Bill 5.7 and received 5.5 from Bill, gave Alain F4GHB 5.6 but had no copy of F1CFA, and gave Vitor and me 5.8. Later, Klaus got 5.9 peaking +10dB from Bill VK4ZD.
Vitor CT1BJZ was 5.8 with me at 0812, gave Alain F4GHB 5.9 and Malcolm PA3AHC 5.7. Vitor got 5.4 from ZL1BFS.
I could only sense Malcolm’s voice here – no strength. He was about 2.3 QSB in the noise at 0830 with me. Alain was also just hearable at S3, and was 5.1 with Pertti at 0755, but was an “excellent signal” with Bill VK4ZD.
I just heard Brian G3LUW at 4.5 at 0810. Brian gave ZL1BFS 5.5 and VK3KCD 5.5.
Nothing heard of Jean-Pierre F1CFA under QRM from the modulation of Kazigstan station, but Jean Pierre was 5.5 with VK4ZD.
John EA/G4HMG was not on the net, being on holiday in England.
Peter VK3KCD was 4.3 with me and got 5.5 from G3LUW but both dropped below the random “wow wow” interference.
John ZL2JPM was heard using the station of VK4ZD at 5.9+15 – it was great to hear John’s natural voice.
EA8LS (visitor) Carlos on the Canary Islands appeared as the net was closing and was 5.9+10dB with me. He gave VK4ZD 5.9+10 and received 5.7
The net closed at 0835.

From Peter VK3KCD
20mx was slow to start here but European propagation appeared at about 0800z. I exchanged reports with Bill VK4ZD, John VK/ZL2JPM, Doug ZL1BFS, Klaus HB9CQS, Brian G3LUW, John G3OKT, Pertti EA7GSU and Alain F4GHB.

From Malcolm PA3AHC
VK4ZD/ZL2JPM were a good 5.7/8 here in Naarden, whereas ZL1BFS was just readable at about 3.2. No copy on VK3KCD, nor any European except Pertti at around 5.5.
On the trans-Atlantic net @ 1200z I could only hear contest callers on our frequency of 14.295 so gave it up.
Got my old linear back so could maybe do better next Sunday. (However, wire dipoles coming down in advance of big forecast storm which will need to be re-erected in time).

0900z - 1000z UK 80-metre Net on 3,693
From John G3OKT
Conditions really good today, signals exceptionally strong but then the band was very busy.
G3LUW (net control) was 5.9+30dB and first off talking to John G7OAI. John could only just hear Mike G4WRU. John had to leave the net at 0906.
Mike said that John G7OAI was 5.5/6 with him.
Alain F4GHB was 5.9+15dB here and gave both Brian and me 10dB over S9; he gave G2FUU 5.9+, G4WRU 5.9 and G3JJR 5.6.
Brian G3LUW was receiving Alain at 5.9
John G3JJR was 5.9+20dB – we were sorry to hear that Pauline was not well.
Mike G4WRU was peaking 20dB over S9, gave G7OAI 5.5/6 and me 5.9+ and Alain 5.8/9. With some sympathy we heard that Mike had not been given the all clear after treatment, as he had hoped and would have to wait 3 months for another scan.
G2FUU Tommy was 5.9+20 and gave G7OAI 5.8, G3LUW and me 5.9+15dB, John G3JJR 5.9, F4GHB 5.8, G4WRU 5.9, but Derek G0SQH was “under the QRM”.
G0SQH Derek was only 3.7 with me, having to compete with S9+20dB continental QRM.
Brian closed the net at 0945. He and Tommy said they hoped to check the 1700z net for any activity.

1200z - 1300z International Net on 14,292
From Pertti EA7GSU
We were two chatting on 14.293 about propagations, antennas and towers.
Mike, N4PF started with S7 but improved to S9 towards the end of sched. I got the same from him. We closed the net at 1216utc.

1700z - 1730z UK evening 80-metre Net on 3,692

2000z - 2030z N.AM Transcontinental Net on 14,287
From Pertti EA7GSU
Band was absolutely dead!! I called a couple of times until Ed, N4EDT turned his bazooka towards Europe asking if I was there. I replied on ssb and cw but neither of those was able to push through. No other stations were audible. Tremendous change in prop's in a couple of weeks. The band was closed also later until the morning hours.

0700z – 0730z Tuesday December 3rd NZ 80-m net on 3693

0730z – 0830z Tuesday December 3rd EUR net on 14.150
From QRZ SRI 134 (119) A 2 (2) K 1 (0) Sunspots 124 Figs in ( ) last week

Pertti EA7GSU had e-mailed
“We are considering to switch the 40m net back to 40m from 20m where it has been, hi! The time of the net is critical because around 0700 - 0800 utc the 20m band is opening but the 40m is turning to day propagations i.e. short skip. I will e-mail to the traditional participants later this week the proposed qrg and qtc

From John G3OKT
I called CQRI at 0730z and Pertti EA7GSU came back under the noise at 4.6/7, but after sacrificing more of his solar energy and swapping his ICOM 735 for his 200W YAESU1000MP (and an immediate change in propagation ?) he was quickly 5.9+10dB.
We QSY’d to try 40m at 0755z on 7175 kHz but I could only just recognize Pertti’s voice under S9+15dB interfering stations – no copy.
So we QSY’d back to 20m at 0800z, but by now there was a very strong Russian station on 14.151. Pertti was still 5.9+10dB, but Brian G3LUW was only 3.6 under the QRM. Pertti gave Brian 5.9+ before QSY’ing again to 7150 kHz which was expected to be clear.
I went QRT at 0805z.

From Pertti EA7GSU by e-mail
40m has not been good between Brian and me, this time neither. It was 57 to my way and he gave "hardly readable" to me. But the skip was changing already so we'll see next week.

That’s all for now,
73’s to all
