Many Thanks to Peter VK3KCD for the following report :-
Good Morning Bill
An active 40mx net this week. I was unable to get to Flinders and was operating stationary mobile from a park near our city home to escape the local QRN. I had fair to good copy on most present the same could not be said for the others ability to copy me! Bill VK4ZD was back on air after a sojourn in hospital with an infected knee and Diane VK4KYL gave us a report on the fund raising activities of the Rotary Club of Gatton Lockyer. Present were Doug ZL1BFS, Noel VK2IWT, Phil VK2MCB,Peter VK3FPSR, Diane VK4KYL, Bill VK4ZD and myself. On 20mx I exchanged 5x9 reports with Bill VK4ZD and could only copy Klaus HB9CQS at 5x5 of the European stations and as a result I did not persist and went QRT. Until next week and hopefully with less QRM
YIR and 73 Peter VK3KCD.
0730z - 0830z Europe - Anzo Net on 14,293 Long Path.
Many Thanks to Bill VK4ZD for the following report :-
Hi Bill
0730z - 0830z Europe - Anzo Net on 14,293 Long Path.
Quite a challenge for many on the net because of Contest QRM, but we battled through.
Peter VK3KCD (Stationary Mobile) and I exchanged 59 reports; he departed early due to the QRM
Doug ZL1BFS was 55 here and gave me 59 Noel VK2IWT called in but was not copiable at my QTH for long John G3OKT was 55-7 here John EA/G4HMG was 33 here Klaus HB9CQS was 57-8 and gave me 58 Pertti EA7GSU was 55 this week and gave me 57
We had pity on ourselves and closed the net early at 0809z
Regards 73 Bill, VK4ZD
And to Klaus HB9CQS for the following report :-
Greetings,
ANZO Net
It was the annual CQ WW SSB contest weekend and an estimate said that 30'000 hams would be participating. Needless to say the QRM was murderous, but to my great surprise it did clear up somewhat when the QRMing stations either found 14293 +/- an unhealthy place or followed our pleas and QSYed. I prefer to believe that it was the latter. So for a short while the stronger ANZO stations at least managed to keep in contact.
None of the contacts were Q5 though and the 9+20 on the meter was probably caused by stations operating 2 or 3 kHz above and below.
I managed to contact in that order: John, EA/ G4HMG - Bill, VK4ZD - Doug, ZL1BFS - John, G3OKT (59+20 here) - Pertti, EA7GSU (59+10 here)
I heard faintly: Noel, VK2IWT and Phil, VK2MCB but impossible to contact.
Net closed at 08:08z
Many thanks to those who persevered.
73 Klaus, HB9CQS
0900z - 1000z UK 80-metre Net on 3,694
Many Thanks to Brian G3LUW for the following report :-
Hi Bill, We returned from two weeks in Spain on Friday. We stayed with John G4HMG and Diana G4MVV. They were extremely attentive and generous hosts, and we enjoyed the visit tremendously.
Both 80m nets were very short of members. The morning was run by Tommy G2FUU, with John G3OKT, John G3JJR and Mike G4WRU. I ran the evening net with Mike G4WRU, Mike G8LES and Tommy. After I closed the net I was called by John EA/G4HMG and we had a satisfactory 80m chat. Conditions were very good on both occasions. Hope you have a new date for your knee operation, Bill, and that it goes well.
(Thanks Brian. The doc is still working on my chest infection. Then they will fix the knee)
73 Brian G3LUW.
1200z - 1300z International Net on 14,293.
Transatlantic Net
When I started listening a few minutes before 12:00z, there was a station working on 14293 and another station working on 14293.5 so I gave up without trying.
I will not be QRV on the coming Sunday. Karen and I will be on holiday on EA6.
73 Klaus, HB9CQS
