Roar Nets July 8 2012

Propagation poor.  K=2,  A=13,   Flux=178

0545z - 0630z  Anzo Net on 7,118
NOTE: Rescheduled to 0515z - 0600z from next Sunday
Many Thanks to Peter VK3KCD for the following  report :-
Good Morning Bill
Made it to Flinders this week and we had a busy 40mx net. Present were Doug ZL1BFS, John ZL2JPM, Bill VK4ZD, Peter VK3FPSR, Phil VK2MCB and myself. 20mx propagation continues to be a problem and I have suggested an earlier start for the ANZO Europe net for 0600z. This being if this is adopted the ANZO 40mx net will commence at 0515z.
YIR and 73 Peter VK3KCD

And further from Peter VK3KCD :-
Hi All
Bill VK4ZD has ascertained that the current propagation time will not change materially until August 18. There seems to be agreement that an earlier start is desirable and I have indicated an earlier start for the 40mx ANZO net in my weekly report. The new times would be:-
7118 KHz ANZO net 0515z
14293 ANZO Europe net 0600z
YIR and 73 Peter VK3KCD

0630z - 0730z  Europe - Anzo net on 14,293 Long  Path.
NOTE: Rescheduled to 0600z - 0700z from next Sunday
Many Thanks to John G3OKT for the following reports :-
Hi Bill
Hope you're coping with the arthritis. You are much missed on the Nets.
Here's my contribution for July 8th
0630z - 0730z Europe - Anzo Net on 14,293 Long Path
Conditions were again very poor, VK signals hardly heard.
06:25z PA0AHC Malcolm was 26 with me with QSB later to 41. Much QRM at times
CT1BJZ and I exchanged 59 reports - Victor said that Pertti had just left Lisbon after visiting President of the 1st Club in Portugal re 2013 Convention. Victor was doubtful that Pertti would be back in Spain in time for the 1200z International Net.
HB9CQS Klaus and I exchanged 59+10db reports
VK3KCD, Peter got 43 from Klaus but I could hardly hear him in UK; Klaus couldn't ascertain whether he was in Melbourne or Flinders/M
VK2MCB seemed to be on the frequency but was not workable
OH6SM Marti and I exchanged 59+20B reports
PA3ADC Henk was 23 with me from Netherlands. He is returning to VK on 27 July. Henk said he would try the 80m UK net later.
07:20z Net closed.

0800z - 0900z UK 80-metre Net on 3,694
UK conditions poor - signals 2-4 s points lower than usual, but an interesting exchange of info and ideas for the full hour. I (G3OKT) stood in as Net Control; G7OAI John first to respond to my call at 0800 with 24w mobile from the reservoir above Rochdale - we exchanged 59 reports. G3LUW Brian, G3JJR John , G2FUU Tommy also joined, as did Henk PA3ADC he was weak but readable here at 56; he got 43 from G3JJR.
G0MMO Norman was 59-57 QSB; G8LES Mike was 59. Mike was congratulated for the award of a Paul Harris Fellowship by his Club.
0903z Net closed

1200z - 1300z International Net on 14,293.
Klaus HB9CQS said earlier that he had to attend a retirement party and couldn't make the Transatlantic net. Brian G3LUW had family visiting and had given apologies. Pertti was presumably still travelling Lisbon to Spain, so I (G3OKT) opened the net at 11.20z and exchanged 59+10dB reports with Coco (Vince) YO9BC
G4OBB (a non-Rotary visitor) exchanged reports with Coco but I couldn't hear him.
I could just hear a call like WV5V (?) and something like ...BW/P but neither were workable by Coco or me.
NP4F Mike came back to my call at 57 but he said he couldn't get much from me. Apparently his regular antenna was down.
PA3AHC Malcolm got 58 from Coco but was barely readable here in UK.
Coco was suffering S8-9 ground noise, 30degC temperature in his shack and no Air Conditioning so with no further calls or sign of any US stations we closed the net at 12.20z
I was not around for the evening nets so can't report these.
All the best Bill
John, G3OKT

1200z - 1300z  International Net on 14,293.
See John's G3OKT report above :-

1900z - 1930z  N.AM. Trenacontinental Net on 14,287.
Good Evening Bill.
Propagation was too poor to run a net today coast to coast at least in the States but good hams that we are we did it anyway. Net control today was lucky if he could talk or listen to a station after it got itself checked in. N4EDT, Ed secured the freq for us today . Others who checked in were : W2LGFwhen he got on the air 15 minutes early. WB7RQG took over net control today because we could not hear Joe W0TBC. Others who checked in were W2LGF Reuben, WD8QHD Noel now in Southern Ontario, Canada stuck it out and finally got to talk with WB7RQG Bob and KF5BD Jack. Noel is a past DG for parts of NE Michigan . This reporter is aquainted with that part of Michigan from when he was a Tobacco Salesman back in 1941 during WW II . Others were:K07E a mobile, WA7W another mobile, and KF5BD relay station and reporter. Five check ins out of a total of Seven were Rotarians.
Jack, KF5BD
