Roar Nets December 30 2012

Propagation quite good.  K=0, A=3, Flux=104

0715z- 0800z  Anzo Net on 7,118
Many Thanks to Peter VK3KCD for the following report :_
Good Morning Bill
An interesting net this week with John ZL2JPM Marine Mobile! And putting out a good signal. Also present were Doug ZL1BFS, Reg VK7KK, Bill VK4ZD (net control), Peter VK3FPSR, Noel VK2IWT and myself. Pertti EA7GSU was heard but no contact made. A happy and prosperous New Year to all ROAR members and hopefully lots of good propagation.

0800z - 0900z  Europe - Anzo Net on 14,293 Long Path.
Many Thanks to Roar President Bill VK4ZD for the following report :-
Happy New Year Bill
Very disappointing propagation
Doug ZL1BFS was first up with a good 57 signal
John ZL2JPM / MM was 53 to me
Phil VK2MCB was there on scatter to me at only 30 and gave me 50
Klaus HB9CQS was only 54-6 and eventually gave me 58
Pertti EA7GSU was 52 and gave me 54-6
Noel VK2IWT was listening but had possible antenna problems
Brian G3LUW was only 32 to me this week
John G3OKT was 43
Les PA0SDZ was 43 and gave me 56.
Malcolm PA3AHC was only 21 here and reportedly gave me 22
Martti OH6SM and I exchanged 55 reports
Peter VK3KCD called in later in the net and was 59 to me
Our plans to erect the cubical quad on Thursday January 3rd did not work so the backup plan is to use a crane which will be available to us on the afternoon of Friday January 4th or the morning of Saturday 5th.
We closed the net at 0904z
Regards  73 Bill, VK4ZD

And Many Thanks to Roar-UK SecretaryJohn G3OKT for the following reports :-
Europe - Anzo Net:-
Pertti heard me (G3OKT) at 5.9 but I heard him at best at 5.6 around 0755z. I barely heard Klaus HB9CQS at 2.5 and he never got any stronger. (He usually comes up to 5.9++).
I heard John EA/G4HMG at 5.7, nothing from Malcolm PA3AHC, though Les PA0SDZ was just detectable.
Brian G3LUW was there at about 3.4
Martti OH6SM was continually 5.9+20 !
I heard John ZL2JPM at 4.5 and Doug ZL1BFS at 2.4 when he gave me 5.3; later around 0830z he came up to 5.6 with me
Noel VK2IWT was just hearable at 1.3; I didn't hear Peter VK3KCD at all
Bill VK4ZD gave me 4.3 when he was peaking 5.4; he was kicking the meter to S7 towards 0900z though quality poor - sounding "at bottom of a bucket" with strong phase distortion.
So, conditions not good for VK/ZL though it was good to hear everyone and exchange Christmas/New Year greetings!

0900z - 0955z  UK 80-metre Net on 3,693, later 3.690
G3OKT Net Controller this week
Band very busy just before the New Year, many strong stations (one 5.9+30dB with me!!) on 3.693, but 3.690 was much quieter.
Mike G4WRU first on at 0900z  -  5.9 but with QSB down to 5.7
John G7OAI 5.9+20, as was Brian G3LUW, John G3JJR, Tommy G2FUU and Bruce G0PCS. Some QSB on all.
An enjoyable net with exchange of experiences over Christmas and greetings for the New Year. Sadly, Margaret's mother had passed away over Christmas and everyone offered their condolences. We had also heard that John EA/G4HMG and Diana had been unable to travel to the UK for Christmas as Diana's plaster had only partially been removed and the airline was still unable to carry her. Tommy had a heavy cold, but he and Olive are awaiting arrival of their second grandchild. Best wishes to Janet and John!
Johns G7OAI and G3OKT confirmed they would be available for a ROAR table at the RSGB Blackpool Rally on April 7th. Nothing about ROAR has appeared in the RADCOM Jan issue - perhaps in February?
Sorry Bill, couldn't attend the later nets because of grandchildren duties!
Best wishes to you and Josie and all who read this for Health and Happiness in 2013 !
Regards and 73s John   (Thanks G4YZE.)

1200z - 1300z  International Net on 14,293.
Hello again,
Sorry, I was 40min late to the frequency but stayed there until
1700utc. Klaus, HB9CQS and Mike, N4PF were there still.
All in all there has been a lot of traffic by at least the following
heard: N4PF, HB9CQS, PA3AHC, VE3BGG, AF1E, VK4ZD, YO9BC. Klaus verified
the good propagations working on QRG an old friend of his from
California with good reports. When writing this at 1820utc, there is
still W-traffic audible.
Thanks everybody for activity and those who sent their apologies.
My beam is stuck to E, fault being either in the control unit switch or
cable at the rotator. First requires new switch by Yaesu, the second
tilting the mast! We continue research. There may not be a quick
remedy.

HELLO EVERYBODY,
Propagations not good YET at 1200utc for trans-Atlantic!
I was listening yesterday band at 1500utc with signals coming from W2,
W4, W5 and W6 with S6 ... 9 strength!
I will be QRV on 14293kHz around 1500 - 1700utc, only if my rotator
permit. It got stuck in direction E!!!
If you can, join me for propagation testing!
