Propagation a little better. K=1, A=5, Flux=150.
0600z - 0630z Anzo Net on 7,118. N.B. This net re-timed 0545z - 0630z from September 25. Many Thanks to Peter VK3KCD for the following report :- Good Morning Bill The 40mx net having been retimed for 0600z was well under way when I checked the frequency at 0540z with Peter VK3FPSR and Phil VK3MCB having a good rag chew. Bill VK4ZD also joined the net at his time and we were joined later by Diane VK4KYL and Doug ZL1BFS. Propagation was favourable and all stations could copy each other. As the net was closing Pertti EA7GSU called in and got 5&7 from Bill VK4ZD and 4&5 from Doug ZL1BFS. Pertti was only 2&2 here. After some discussion it was agreed that the 30 minutes allowed for this net was inadequate so we have agreed to commence at 0545z 45 minutes before the EU VK ZL net. YIR and 73 Peter VK3KCD 0630z - 0730z Europe-Anzo Net on 14,293 Long Path. Many Thanks to Klaus HB9CQS for the following report :- Greetings Bill, Propagation conditions were fair to good and we had a fine net with good attendance. 06:32z VK3KCD, Peter, from Flinders using V-beam. 58 - 59 QSB but never below 56. Got 59. 18C - 19C. 06:35z VK4ZD, Bill from Lockyer Waters. 59+10 both ways. Fine signal throughout the net. 06:37z VK2MCB, Phil, from Googong. 57 here. Got 57 - 58. 06:39z ZL2JPM, John, from Port Nicholson, Wellington. 57 - 58. Got 59+20. 06:41z EA7GSU, Pertti. Weak for a start, but increasing to 59+ both ways. QSB. Morning temp 18C. 06:51z EA8CPN, Gerald. 56 / 56. Not the best time for working VK / ZL from EA8, but Gerald managed at last. 06:48z ZL1BFS, Doug, from Auckland. 56 / 56. 07:28z Net closed Not many European stations heard here, but Malcolm, PA3AHC - Coco, YO9BC - John, EA/G4HMG - and of course Bill, G4YZE were active on the net and able to work the ANZO stations.
Bill (ZD) did a fine job as net controller.
73 - Klaus, HB9CQS
And many thanks to Bill VK4ZD for this report :-
Hi Bill
The new time seemed to work much better on 20m last Sunday.
I was delayed getting to 14.293 slightly while I chatted to Pertti EA7GSU on 7.118.
Pertti reached 57 by the time I QSY’d to 14.293.
On 14.293 Klaus HB9CQS was immediately 59+10 and stayed S9 or better throughout the net.
Malcolm PA3AHC was 43 to me and gave me 57. Pertti EA7GSU started off at 55 but reached 59 during the net. Coco YO9BC was 48 to me and still has his audio problem (must be a radio or microphone fault as it is too consistent for a normal RF feedback problem).. John EA/G4HMG got to me at 53 in the clear, giving me 55. Gerald EA8CPN finally made it through to me 53, gave me 58. Bill G4YZE eventually reached 57 here. 0800z - 0900z UK 80-metre Net on 3,694. G3JJR John in charge from Wolverhampton in noisy conditions. On parade were :- G4WRU Mike, G7OAI John, G2FUU Tommy, G0MMO Norman, G0SQH Derek, and G4YZE Bill. 1130z - 1230z International Net on 14,293.
And again Many Thanks to Bill VK4ZD for this report :-
Thanks to Bill G4YZE for telling me about Jim W1QUO’s upcoming 95th birthday.
(I understand from Jim that it is actually on Sunday the 25th).
Jim and I had a 5 minute chat at 1118z. I was able to work each of the NA stations during the course of the net. Jim W1QUO was 57 (gave me 56) Mike N4PF was 56 (gave me 57) Joe AF1E was 57 (gave me 56) Ken W8SOO was 59+5-10 (gave me 59+10) I stayed to the end of the net and was able to hear a hint of audio from Klaus HB9CQS, Bill G4YZE and briefly Pertti EA7GSU when I was listening on my 160m delta loop. Regards 73 Bill, VK4ZD.
From my log at G4YZE we had :-
1115z - W1QUO Jim from Leominster MA 5/8
1118z - VK4ZD Bill from Lockyer Waters 1/1, got 5/6 from Jim.
1130z - HB9CQS Klaus from Sachseln 5/9 now
1130z - N4PF Mike from Cynthiana KY 5/6, got 5/7 from Bill ZD
1144z - AF1E Joe from Conover NC 5/6, got 5/7 from Bill ZD
1145z - EA/G4HMG John in Benissa 5/6
1149z - EA7GSU Pertti in Genalguacil only 2/1, Klaus got him quite well.
1202z - W8SOO Ken in Sault St.Marie North Michigan 5/8, got "solid copy" from Bill ZD.
1222z - VO1NP Nate in St.John's NF 1/1 here, got 5/5 from Jim.
1230z - Net ended. As Jim commented "the best net for several months".
Very interesting today with the Pacific path working better than the Atlantic path.
This was a regular feature during earlier sunspot maximum phases,
Also one or two Japanese stations used to get a contact with the US stations
on a good day, though not audible in Europe.
So try on Sunday and wish Jim W1QUO a Happy 95th Birthday on September 25. !
1700z - 1730z UK evening 80-metre Net on 3,694 Just G2FUU Tommy, Mike G4WRU, Don G0JWE and Bill G4YZE. Conditions very noisy, S9 noise here but all signals very strong, S9+10 1900z - 1930z N.AM Transcontinental Net on 14,288
Many Thanks to Treasurer Bob Butler for the following report :-
Hi Bill, Conditions were somewhat better this week but we only had five checkins. Joe, AF1E was net control with the following joining in; Jim, W1QUO, Pertti EA7GSU, John W8AUV and myself Bob, WB7RQG. The signals improved as time went on.

Messages Received.
From Mike G8LES by email :-
Dear Bill
Have an infected arm from a bite from an unknown insect - doctor given cream for that.
Given me flu like symptoms. Antibiotics for that.
This and a pencil and paper are my best ways to communicate as now the voice has gone completely, the pitch has steadily been going down to Barry White, (Tune: I was borne under a wandering star) but now its fallen off lower C, so inaudible.
Expressions like "have your say Mike", and "speak up" are currently off the agenda. I can however whistle, shake my head and stamp the floor.
I am supposed to stand in for Roy G8CKN to read the RSGB Sunday News at 09:30, but that prospect currently looks very unlikely.
Mike
(Hang in there Mike. We look forward to hearing your dulcet tones next Sunday! g4yze)

That's all for this week,
