Roar Nets October 2 2011

Propagation good though figures still modest :-   K=1, A=13,  Flux=131.

0545z - 0630z  Anzo Net on 7,118.
Many Thanks to Peter VK3KCD for the following report :-
Good Morning Bill
I was a little late getting on 40 mx this Sunday finding Bill V4ZD and Doug ZL1BFS in QSO. Doug was quite weak here a situation which did not improve throughout the net. Also present were Peter VK3FPSR, Phil VK2MCB and myself. Both Peter and Phil have plans to operate HF mobile in the near future. Bill and Diane have the new 13 element HF beam nearly completed and hope to have it up the tower soon. Peter indicated he will probably be absent from the net for the next 3 weeks.
YIR and 73 Peter VK3KCD.

0630z - 0730z  Europe - Anzo Net on 14,293 Long Path.
Many Thanks to Bill VK4ZD for this Supplementary Report :-
Hi Bill
The current net time still seems ideal into VK-ZL.
When I got to 14.293 I heard that John G3OKT was already on the frequency and in contact with EA/G4HMG and YO9BC.
Coco YO9BC had a nice clean beautifully strong signal here 59+5 with his new amplifier (gave me 59+10).
Peter VK3KCD was 59 to me at all times as was John G3OKT. Peter succeeded in making some good contacts.
John EA/G4HMG reached 55 here.
Malcolm PA3AHC reached 44 to me and gave me 57. He expects to be here in about a month. It will be great to see him again.
Doug ZL1BFS seemed to have one-way skip with lots of qsb. He could hear but was not always able to be heard.
Bill G4YZE started off at 59+5 and didn’t drop much below 59.
Pertti EA7GSU was easily readable here with a 58 signal here and gave me 59.
Peter VK3KCD worked a visitor Bert DL9GAU.

1130z - 1230z  International Net on 14,293
Many Thanks to Bill VK4ZD for this report : -
International Net to NA on 14.293.
Propagation to NA came in to VK4 much later this Sunday.
At 1115z I could faintly hear Jim W1QUO working Nate VO1NP.
Jim was up to 55 by 1130z but didn’t get me better than 44.
A repeated data transmission also marred reception on the frequency with lengthy transmissions.
I heard Mike N4PF call in with a 57-9 signal at 1138z.
Jim W1QUO was up to 57 at 1142z and stayed that way for over 30 minutes.
Also heard Joe AF1E called in at 1150z with a 56 signal here.
Bert VE3BGG called in at 1158z with a 57 signal peaking 59 at 1207z.
Jim W1QUO called me at 1213z 57 both ways.
Excellent contact with Bert VE3BGG at 1215z 57-59 both ways.
Exchanged our usual 59 reports with Mike N4PF at 1223z
Regards   73   Bill, VK4ZD.

And from my G4YZE log :-
K1JHC Tom, near neighbour of Jim 3/5 here.
G2FUU Tommy.  Has got his quad repaired and aloft. Only 22 feet up but doing a great job.
He got a great chat with VE3BGG Bert whose first radio mentor was VE3FUU.
Also Tommy's xyl Olive is from St. Marys Ontario,  not so far from Bert.
YO9BC Coco   In great voice today. The faulty linear put aside in favour of a great home-made one. !
CT1BJZ Vitor in Ordivelas, Called in about 5/6.  Sorry I did not get you in Vitor.  Look for you next week.
