Propagation still poor. K=3, A=3, Solar Flux=91
0530z - 0600z Anzo Net on 7,118
Many thanks to Peter VK3KCD for the following report :-
Good Morning Bill
Bill VK4ZD and Peter VK3FPSR joined me on the 40mx net this week. Bill VK4ZD was heard by Pertti EA7GSU at 0552z unfortunately we missed Pertti’s CW call so missed making it a two way. We will listen more carefully in future!
By the time this gets in the weekly email all ANZO members on my email list should have received some notes about the operation of W5R and the most favourable times for the ANZO region.
Until next week YIR and 73 Peter VK3KCD
0600z - 0700z Europe - Anzo Net on 14,293 Long Path.
Many thanks to Klaus HB9CQS for the following report :-
Greetings Bill,
Propagation conditions were good for the ANZO net, but very poor for the Transatlantic net. The heterodyne signal is still giving us trouble. At 12:00z it disappeared suddenly. The UK members of ROAR held their Annual General Meeting on this Sunday and were absent. (No "convention station" at the AGM !). In spite of this, we managed to have a fine ANZO net with Bill (ZD) as net controller, but the Transatlantic net suffered. ANZO net 06:04z VK3KCD, Peter. 58 - 59 here. Got 59. Pertti got 55 at one time. Peter was still 56 - 58 when signing. 06:04z ZL2JPM, John from Port Nicholson. 34 when first heard. Peaking at 56. Got a Q5 from John. 06:04z VK4ZD, Bill. 59+10 here. Got 59. Bill was testing a new mike. Preliminary verdict: The old one is better. 06:09z PA3AHC, Malcolm. Skipped out here, but good signal in EA7 and VK. 06:14z EA7GSU, Pertti. Now direct contact: 59+10 both ways. 06:19z OH6SM, Martti. 59 both ways. Doing well after the hip replacement operation. Gave Bill (ZD) 57. Got 53. 06:49z PA0SDZ, Les. 55 here. Les hampered by static rain. Bill (ZD) got 57, gave 54. 57 to/from Peter. Going to Ham-Meeting 07:07z Net closed.
0800z - 0900z UK 80-metre Net on 3,693.
G2FUU Tommy in charge. Spoke to two visitors but no members.
We were all, or nearly all, at our Roar AGM in Buxton !
1130z - 1230z International Net on 14,293.
And many thanks also to Klaus for the following report :-
Transatlantic net
Because Bill (YZE) was absent, Pertti and I were ready to take part in the net control. The heterodyne signal was strong until 12:00z when it suddenly disappeared. 11:32z EA7GSU, Pertti, 59 both ways. Deep QSB, but always Q5 and generally good signals between us. 11:34z W1QUO, Jim. Mostly 56 here. Got 55. QSB and sometimes Q4 only. Jim used 200 watts. Modulation problem now cured. 11:36z N4PF, Mike. Weak signal, 55 - 56 at best. Sometimes Pertti had the best copy, at other times it was me. 11:43z PA3AHC, Malcolm. Skipped out here, but Pertti had no trouble working Malcolm. 11:48z VO1NP, Nate. 56 here when first heard. Got 54 - 56. 31 from Pertti and 55 from Jim. QSB with signals coming and going. 12:17z Transatlantic connections were now impossible. The net was closed, but some local contacts continued. 73 - Klaus, HB9CQS
1700z - 1730z UK evening 80-metre Net on 3,693
Just Tommy G2FUU, Mike G4WRU and myself.
Tommy gave us an update on the 0800z net while Mike and I gave Tommy a bit of an update on our AGM.
At Buxton we welcomed John G3OKT from Oswestry and Philip G4DCI from Nottingham to their first AGM.
Norman G0MMO organised a wonderful coach tour of the Peak District for us. Many thanks Norman !
Tommy was glad to hear that we mean to hold next year's AGM nearer to him, somewhere in Essex.
The bad news, Mike G8LES has had to give up the Vice Presidential role due to pressure of work.
G3LUW Brian will continue temporarily in the dual role of Vice-President and Secretary.
Don G0JWE will sound out our UK membership for a new Vice President and a new Secretary.
