Roar Nets December 25 2011

Propagation good. K = 1, A = 0, Flux = 144
Apologies - I missed all nets this day due to Christmas activities.
Also apologies from Bill VK4ZD in Gatton and from Jim W1QUO in Leominster MA.
0645z - 0730z Anzo Net on 7,118.
No official net actiivity this day due to Christmas.

0730z - 0830z Europe - Anzo Net on 14,293 Long Path.
Many Thanks to Klaus HB9CQS for the following report :-
Greetings Bill,
With many of our regular participants absent on this Christmas Day, including our three net controllers, I was not too optimistic. I am glad to say that we had two small but fine nets. I thank those who turned up for being there but also for your great support during the nets.
The QRM on the International net originated mainly from 14295. QSYing just 500 Hz down to 14292.5 would have helped the Europeans a lot, but we stayed on 14293. The heterodyne signal was there as well and strong, but nothing comparable with the QSO on 14295
ANZO Net
Started calling CQ RI net at 07:30z.
Nothing heard, but shortly after Doug, ZL1BFS, was there with a 58 signal from his redesigned linear. Got 59.
After a few minutes Pertti, EA7GSU, joined us. 59 here. The band was not yet fully open beween EA and ZL, but it kept improving.
At 07:47z Coco, YO9BC, called in with a booming signal, 59+20 both ways. No trouble for Coco to work Doug and Pertti.
At 08:00z Gerald, EA8CPN, joined us from Tenerife. Only 44 here. Got 58-59 from Gerald. Pertti was doing much better.
Last CQ RI net call was at 08:28z. It was answered by my old friend Len, VK2BLZ, living near Coff’s Harbour. 57-58 both ways.
At 08:36z, while still listenig on 14293, I heard VK6NS, Noel, from Kalgoorlie call Bill, VK4ZD. I told Noel that Bill was celebrating the day with his family and had not been on the net.
73 - Klaus HB9CQS

0900z - 1000z UK 80-metre Net on 3,694.
Many Thanks to G3LUW Brian for the following report :-
Hi Bill, A very happy Christmas to you and Josee. There were 4 of us on the net this morning. John G7OAI, Mike G4WRU, Norman G0MMO and myself. I had a telephone call while we were on, from Elizabeth, widow of Tony G4FTA, wishing us all seasons greetings. She was receiving us loud and clear from Oxford. 73 Brian

1230z - 1330z Inetrnational Net on 14,293.
And Many Thanks to Klaus for this report :-
International Net
Called CQ RI net at 12:30z and was answered immediately by N4PF, Mike, from Kentucky. Mike stayed on the net until the end. 57-58 here, mostly 58.
Malcolm, PA3AHC, called in a few minutes later. I am really too close to Malcolm and he was only 44 to 55. Malcolm got 57 from Mike.
At 12:34z Joe, AF1E, called. 57 here and good audio with a punch. Joe received Malcolm 53.
Next station to join the net was G3TKK, Peter, from near Preston at 12:42z. Big signal 59+10 and also good reports, 58-59, from Mike and Joe.
Coco, YO9BC, called in at 12:55 with his usual big signal. Coco like me was greatly hampered by QRM from 14295.
Simultaneously with Coco a visitor called. It was KJ4RNK, Ken, from North Carolina. When in the clear 57-58 here.
Then G7FDS/QRP, Bill, called. About 56-57 here. He left quickly and didn’t try to work other stations on the net.
LA9FNA was even more brief. After calling in he didn’t stay to get a report.
73’s were exchanged and the net closed at 13:29z.
I wish all my ROAR friends a very happy 2012.
73 – Klaus, HB9CQS

From President Pertti EA7GSU to our South American friends :-
Amigos Rotarios,
aficionado interesado!
