Roar Nets July 25 2010

Propagation very unstable.   K=1,  A=4,  Flux=85

0530z - 0700z  Europe - Anzo Net on 14,293 Long Path.
I listened from 0530z but the band did not really open here until about 0615z.
Again Klaus did much better achieving two sessions with VK4ZD.
Many thanks to Klaus for the following report :-
Greetings Bill,
Last Sunday (July 18) I worked Peter, VK3KCD, around 05:50z with 54 both ways and I did not even hear a whisper from other VKs or ZLs. This Sunday morning I expected somewhat similar conditions - only to be taught again about the erratic behaviour of radio waves.
05:30z  Started listening. The band was rather quiet in spite of the ongoing RSGB IOTA contest.
05:32z  Spoke briefly to YO9BC, Coco, who had started earlier and had heard but not been able to work VK4ZD
05:32z  VK4ZD, Bill, from Lockyer Waters. 54 both ways with occational deep QSB. We were in contact for more than half an hour.
I learned that during the Monday Bill would go to Brisbane to pick up an exchange student from Germany.
The Main's will be the first family to host the new exchange student.
05:42z  Also on the net were Rob, ZL1RD and Peter, VK3KCD. I copied a few words from Rob,
but to my surprise nothing at all of Peter's transmissions.
06:10z  EA/G4HMG, John. Peaking at 58 here and always R5. Pertti, EA7GSU, was visiting and I also had a word with Pertti.
06:22z  G4YZE, Bill. 55 here at best. We were both hampered by QSB and increasing contest activities.
John and Pertti were doing much better.
06:48z  VK4ZD, Bill, called me and I answered him although thereby undoubtedly stepping on John's toes.
I apologize. Bill was now mostly 56.
07:00z  Closed with Bill although signals were still good. No doubt, on the second opening signals were the strongest.
07:00z  QRT
73  -  Klaus, HB9CQS

And many thanks to Peter VK3KCD for this great report from the Anzo region. :-
Good morning Bill.
Had quite a good turn up for the 40mx VK/ZL net with Doug ZL1BFS, Bill VK4ZD, Peter VK3FPSR and Reg VK7KK. I was able to copy everyone except Peter VK3FPSR who had a good contact with VK4ZD.
20mx was disappointing here with no propagation to Europe but Bill VK4ZD had a good contact with Klaus HB9CQS. Other Stations on this net were ZL1RD, JM2HBO, VK7KK and I understand Doug ZL1BFS heard me but then lost propagation.
I will not be in the shack next Sunday and Bill VK4ZD will be on for the 0500 40mx net unless his circumstances change.

1118z - YO9BC Vince (Coco) from Ploiesti 5/9+
1136z - PA3AHC Malcolm from Naardeen 1/1 here but John got him.well.

1215z - Net ended. Jim had "22c and some rain on and off"
I think he heard us fairly well today, me "in and out in heavy qsb"
but Klaus and Coco did better. Here Jim's signal was struggling in contest qrm
and deep fading.  Many thanks to all who tried.  Better luck next week !
