Many thanks to Klaus for the following report :-
Greetings Bill,
It was a small net as we had expected. Conditions? Better than no sunspots but not really good.
07:30z Started listening. Too early. Faintly heard Bill (ZD) and Teru san in QSO.
07:40z Called Bill, VK4ZD, now 44. Got a 54 from Bill. No improvements over time, - rather on the contrary..
07:42z JM2HBO, Teru san. 44 later increasing to 56. Got 57.
08:02z VK5DWC/Mobile, David, visiting. 22 while mobile, but David later got more power and was 57 - 58.
Bill (ZD) was now so weak that I stepped out on the sideline twice. Bill came back again, but never above 55.
08:44z  G3LUW, Brian. Very weak, 33. Bill heard Brian before I did.
08:46z  G4YZE, Bill. 59. Amazing signal when Brian at the same time was barely readable. Got 59 from Bill
08:51z  Net continued. I had to go QRT.

In the event you did not miss much Jim !
Just Mike N4PF from Cynthiana KY and me.
Heavy qrm from a Russian DXer (deaf ?) two down but splattering like mad.
We tried calling from both ends but no success this day so we gave up after about 15 minutes.

Dear Bill: I made a mistake last week by announcing I would be the net control this week. Only 4 check-ins. W2LGF Ruben,  W0TBC Joe,  AF1E Joe and KF5BD Jack.
Happy New Year from our side of the pond.

Messages Received.
From Secretary Brian G3LUW re. John Gardner GW4KVJ :-
John’s funeral is to be held at Holy Trinity Church, Ystrad Mynach at 1200 noon on Tuesday 4th January.
Margaret and I will be there.
I had a long chat with Peggy and she is bearing up very well.
Her attitude is that 91 is a reasonable age.
Their son (Peter) has arrived from Newfoundland to support her.

And a very fitting tribute to John Gardner from Klaus :-
Dear Bill,
I was very sorry to learn that John, GW4KVJ, has passed away. I always maintain that you can hear if people are smiling when you speak to them on the phone or radio. With John you could not only hear that he was smiling. There was a special warmth to his voice. I always felt in good company with John. After he moved to a home he went to his car and worked mobile in order to take part in the nets. I spoke to him many times like this. We never met but I feel that I have lost a good friend. I will miss John.
