Good Morning Bill
A very small ANZO net on 7118KHz last Sunday there being Bill VK4ZD, Noel VK2IWT and myself battling the QRN generated by thunder storms up and down the East coast and SE of Australia. Bill noted continuous rain all day.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for maintaining the weekly email and to Klaus HB9CQS not only for his extraordinarily reliable signal on 20mx but also for his regular reports of the ANZO Europe net.
This year has seen an increase in activity in our region and we have had the pleasure of welcoming Peter VK3FPRS, Alan VK3HGA, Reg VK7KK and Phil VK2FPDB.
Compliments of the season to all members of ROAR and may the sunspots of 2011 bring improved propagation.

Messages Received.
A sad message from Peter Gardner,  Son of John GW4KVJ
Hello Bill:
You don't know me but I am the son of John Gardner (GW4 KVJ). I found your address in Dad's inbox.
I am sorry to tell you that Dad passed away peacefully this morning - Tuesday, Dec.21, - after a brief spell in hospital.
Mum (Peggy) is doing well. We do not know when the funeral will be but it will be in Ystrad Mynach hopefully before years end.
Please pass this message to any of Dad's ROAR friends that you feel would like to know.
As you know Dad was always passionate about his amateur radio activities. Even broadcasting from Newfoundland where I live. He would always tell me about his ROAR activities and get-togethers. And, of course his involvement in Rotary was always most important to him
The family was always very proud of his achievements and were so happy to join with him in his pride at being made a Paul Harris Fellow and his second term, at a ripe old age, as President of Bargoed Rotary Club.
Thank you to ROARiansfor all the good times you gave him.
Sincerely.   Peter Gardner
(Thank you Peter.  Your father was a great man, a great Rotarian and one of Nature's Gentlemen  We shall miss him!   g4yze)

And from David EA5ALK
Hi Bill, As you no doubt realise I've given up activity with Roar.  It's been a difficult decision but with continuing problems with transmission and reception fom this appartment I thought  it would be best.
I would like to give my greetings -and apologies - to those I've enjoyed talking to and meeting at the AGMs . We won't be coming to next years meeting but I do hope you will keep me in touch.
Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.from me & Valerie.

And from Doug ZL1BFS
A great Xmas message, too long to include in it's entirety but -- Doug will retire from work in January.
After some family functions through February they will sell the house in Gisborne and move to Auckland, possibly in March.
Good luck Doug and family.  Keep in touch.  We shall be listening for you - from your new station also!.
