Bert VE3BGG is 85 next Sunday 29th.  Come on and send him a Happy message !
We missed Jim W1QUO, away at a Rotary fund-raising breakfast event but on Saturday 21st
he was on with Jim jun. K1AKE and Jim's colleague Alan Rogers ex (ZE6JG).
Alan was testing out a centre-fed half-wave vertical at Jim's home base.
It was 5/6 here against 5/9 on the big beam so it is very promising and
they intend to get it erected at Jim's new place pretty soon now.
Alan wreaked havoc with his old Southern Rhodesia callsign but we sorted it out !
Did anybody know Molly Henderson ZE1JE, a famous S.Rhodesian ham now SK,
who was well-known to Alan in his early days in amateur radio ?

1900z - 1930z  UK evening 80-metre Net on 3,694
Band very noisy with long skip stuff. I made several calls but heard no reply.

Messages Received.
From John Goldsmith G4KTX :-
Hullo Bill,
Its some time since we made contact and  I have to report that my situation  is unchanged.  I had a go at morse  and found it difficult my only excuse being age. I am approaching 86 and with Parkinsons Disease the two don't agree.
So I'm saying farewell to radio, much as I have enjoyed it - and the company  that Cicely and I met at the AGMs.
You all will be sadly missed
Please convey this message  to all concerned  and especially to Tommy G2FUU with a hope that he makes a speedy return to good health and will soon be on the air again.
With Christmas  on the way  our very best wishes  to all concerned  and this  goes to Josee, as well.
 Best wishes to all,
Yours in Rotary, John G4KTX
And re. Tommy G2FUU :-
Olive reports that Tommy was promoted from Intensive Care to a High Dependency ward on Saturday
and further promoted to a standard ward on Tuesday. All tubes have been removed and he is able to speak.
He is still rather tired but improving steadily.  Great News Tommy !
