Roar Nets March 22 2009

Propagation poor and confusing.    K=0, A=7, Flux=69
N.B.  UK clocks go forward one hour to BST at 0100z on Sunday 29th March.

0730z -  0830z  Europe - Anzo Net on 14,293 Long Path
0630z - 0730z from March 29.
We should get earlier propagation soon.  UK sunrise is now 0600z.
Careful listening from 0650z. One Russian contester at 0742 5/5, Some packet
audible on 14.100 from 0755z. Haifa beacon just audible at 0810z.
I never did hear the Madeira beacon, nor Wellington of course - then suddenly!
0831z - VK4ZD 5/6 Bill in Gatton.  Got me "5/3 in the clear".
But what about this report from Klaus ?
"Hello Bill,
Big signals from ANZO - but even bigger from the contest stations. At one time I had a 9 + 10 station working on 14,292.5.
Through all this, I managed to maintain a fairly steady contact with Bill, VK4ZD, who was net controller for the ANZO stations.
On and off I also worked Rob, ZL1RD, Teru san, JM2HBO, Noel, VK2IWT and Roy, DU9/G4UNL. It wasn't easy.
Sometimes Q5, sometimes Q1, and you never knew who moved the S-meter. Bill was a great help.
I heard Pertti, EA7GSU, being called, but had no copy on Pertti here - or any other European stations.
First contact with Bill at 07:35z. Closed down at 08:33z, - glad that my sore ears could get some rest!
73, Klaus, HB9CQS  "

( In Bolton it was like a propagation curtain was blocking all signals at South of England latitudes until about 0830z.)
