Roar Nets December 27 2009

Propagation still fragile.  K=0, A=3, Flux=76.

0800z - 0900z  Europe - Anzo Net on 14,293 Long Path.
Band asleep here until 0835z but I got both VK4ZD and VK2GWK 5/7 at the end, (5/4 on short path).
John EA/G4HMG was 5/9 here. He was entertaining Mike G8LES & Elizabeth (widow of Tony G4FTA)
All send Seasons Greetings to everybody on the nets.
Klaus did much better. Many thanks for your report Klaus !
Greetings Bill,
As you may not have been able to follow the ANZO net activities from the start, I send you this extract of my log:
08:05z  VK4ZD, Bill, controlling the net. Initially RS 42 with signal and noise increasing simultaneously. After half an hour RS 55.
08:08z  ZL1BFS, Doug. RS 43. Must have been late evening in Auckland.
08:19z  VK3KCD, Peter, RS 33. We just managed to exchange season's greetings before signals faded out.
08:19z  VK2GWK, Henk from Nelson Bay. A very fine signal, RS 56, and increasing. Got 53-54. Henk reported heavy rainfall.
08:30z  PA0SDZ, Les.  RS 44 for a start, increasing to 55 at closing time. Les also worked Henk and Bill (VK), but Bill in Bolton was skipped out.
08:40z  G4YZE, Bill in Bolton. RS 45 on back scatter. The two Bills tried short path also, but no success. Short path no good here either.
09:02z  EA/G4HMG, John. RS 33. Only heard John briefly here.
09:14z  QRT
Bill, VK4ZD; reported that Teru, JM2HBO, had been on the net early.
I send all ROAR members my best Season's greetings.
73    Klaus, HB9CQS

0900z - 1000z  UK 80-metre Net on 3,694
G0SQH Derek from Ringwood in charge in fair conditions.
Supported by:-  G0MMO Norman,  M0BDI Ralph,
G7OAI John,  G4MVO Jim  and G4YZE Bill.

1230z - 1330z  International Net on 14,293.
Jim/W1QUO is back in business, with a Merry Xmas and a big Ho Ho Ho !
1222z - W1QUO Jim in Leominster MA 4/2 at first up to 5/7 by 1250z.
Jim was putting 100W into a centre-fed half-wave vertical just installed at his new home.
It is disguised as a flagpole!   He intends to have some more power soon.
1226z - WN5V Dave in Welsh LA a great 5/8 right from the start.
1230z - YO9BC Coco in Ploiest 5/9+
1252z - EA7GSU Pertti from Genalguacil 5/6
1256z - VO1NP Nate from St.John's NF 5/5
1307z - PA3AHC Malcolm from Naarden 1/1 here but Pertti got him 5/7
1317z - M0MGA Graham in Bolton for a report on a new rig,  5/7, nice audio.
1321z - A very interesting net but I had to leave at this time.
Great to hear Jim again !  He reported slight snow but Boston had 8 inches, NY much more!
Dave WN5V reported the wettest December on record in Louisiana. Still, they had a great Xmas!
(Dave was putting 1300 Watts into a 4-element Steppir beam.)
Coco is putting out a great signal from his Omni II transceiver but impatient to get his Titan III linear repaired.
All that power into his 16-element superbeam will surely be a hazard for our S-meters Hi.
VO1NP Nate was in very good voice from Newfoundland. Sending Seasons Greetings to all.

1800z - 1830z  UK evening 80-metre Net on 3,694
I missed this one.  No reports.

Messages Received.
G2FUU Tommy our veteran net controller .
Tommy is back home yesterday (Wednesday).  Feeling bright but still tiring easily.
We had a good chat on the phone with Tommy speaking clearly and in
his usual fluent style.  He is making a steady recovery after a very serious
episode in hospital and he should be ready for net duty in a few weeks.
Meanwhile he thanks all for their concern and good wishes and sends
all the best for "A Happy New Year" in 2010.
