Roar Nets March 23 2008

 
Propagation still very poor.  K=3, A=5,  Flux=70
 
N.B.  UK clocks go forward one hour at 0100z on Sunday 30th March.
 
0800z - 0900z  Europe - Anzo Net on 14,293 Long Path.
This net 0700z - 0800z from March 30.
I called several times but heard no response.

Greetings Bill,
I thought we had reached the bottom last Sunday, but this Sunday was worse, - at least seen from Europe. 
The ANZ stations with VK2GWK, Henk, in control appeared to do fairly well. 
Participants: ZL1RD, Rob, VK3KCD, Peter, VK4KYL/P, Diane and VK4ZD/P, Bill.
08:10z  VK2GWK, Henk, 58. Got 57. Signals quickly dropped to about 53-54.
08:35z  EA/G4HMG. Briefly heard 53 before disappearing again.
08:38z  Signed with Henk. Still R5 both ways.
Kept listening until 09:00z, but heard nothing.

0900z - 1000z  UK 80-metre Net on 3,693
This Net  0800z - 0900z from March 30.
G0SQH Derek in charge from Ringwood.
Fourteen on the net in noisy conditions.
(Including John EA/G4HMG from Benissa via Skype
relay through G0SQH).
 
1130z - 1230z  International Net on 14,293. (Already on summer schedule)
1130z - W1QUO Jim from Leominster 3/3, up to 5/9 by 1155z
1130z - VE2GTI Coos from Montreal 3/3 up to 5/6 by 1155z
1130z - EA/G4HMG John from Benissa 4/7
1133z - G2FUU Tommy from Essex 1/1 here but John got him.
1142z - I5IXM Franco from Livorno 5/8
1156z - OH2TO  Seppo 1/1 here but Pertti got him
1205z - EA7GSU Pertti from Genalguacil 5/9
1209z - 2E0IXC Dave from  ? 1/1,  got 5/8 from Pertti, 5/7 from Jim.
1224z - Net ended. Very difficult, band not really open until 1150z.
Jim had minus 5c,  Coos had minus 10c and wearing his raccoon hat!
Pertti had it "very cold"  plus 14c ! 
Pertti is to visit Helga, (XYL of the late Laszlo Racz AD6XX our Past President)
on Wednesday and help her dispose of the remainder of Laslo's radio equipment.
 
1900z - 2000z  UK evening 80-metre Net on 3,694
This Net 1800z - 1900z from March 30.
Just Derek G0SQH,  John GW4KVJ  and me in very noisy conditions.

Just to say that our Roar-in-RIBI Treasurer Bruce G0PCF delivered a very learned
talk on Amateur Radio, H/F Propagation and Sunspots to his Rotary Club last week.
Solar flux readings are now improving.
