Roar Nets March 2 2008

Propagation very poor.   K=3,  A=19,  Flux=69.

0800z - 0900z  Europe - Anzo Net on 14,293 Long Path.
Only a few scraps of weak reception here so many thanks to Klaus for his report : -
Greetings Bill,
At 08:00z hardly a station was heard here on the entire band but the band eventually opened up somewhat towards VK and ZL and pleasant surprise:
JA3BSX, Teru san (Teruo), came in with a booming signal long path. Teru san lives near Kyoto, is member of one the Rotary clubs in Kyoto and also a
ROAR member. We all look forward very much to meeting you again, Teru san.
08:14z  VK4ZD, Bill. 33, increasing quickly to a steady 55-56. Bill's daughter Alizah applying for VK license now. Congratulations.
08:14z  ZL1RD, Rob. Not very strong this morning. Never more than 43 and difficult with my poor hearing. Got R5 from Rob at one time.
08:14z  VK3KCD, Peter. To my regret again only 11 here. Glad that Peter had a fine triangle with Bill and Rob.
08:22z  G4YZE, Bill. 44 here. Bill had no copy on VK and ZL and, as far as I could get, did not fare much better with JA.
08:28z  JA3BSX, Teru san. Booming in here, 59 and never below 57. Got 59 myself. 57 in EA7-land and also good signal in VK4 and OH.
08:35z  EA7GSU, Pertti, 59/59. Still using ground plane. Worked Teru san, but handicapped by lack of beam.
08:44z  OH6SM, Martti, for once only 33 here, but good signal into Kyoto
09:00z  Net closed down
I heard faintly a couple of other stations, but I was unable to read the words. I apologize.

You probably know, but I thought it prudent to tell you that our clocks are going forward  one hour this coming Saturday/Sunday night.
I don't know whether Europe does the same.

Thanks Coos.  I had forgotten your EST rules changed last year.
UK clocks (and mainland Western Europe as far as I know) go forward on 30th March.
The International net will start at the earlier hour this Sunday. At 1130z.
European nets stay on Winter Schedule until March 30.

                                               That's all for this week,
