Roar Nets February 3 2008

Propagation rough with a few bright spots.   K=3, A=21,  Flux=72

0800z - 0900z  Europe-Anzo Net on 14,293 Long Path.
I did not do very well on this net. Thanks to Klaus and Henk for the following reports.
Greetings Bill,
After extremely poor conditions over the last month and more, last Sunday included, the ANZO net on this Sunday morning was a pleasant surprise.
08:16z  VK2GWK, Henk. 56 increasing to steady 59 and peaking 59+15. Henk did a fine job as net controller and as far as I could judge, Henk was able to work all stations calling in, including ZL1MJG who was 11 here.
08:19z  VK4ZD, Bill, 56 increasing to 59 then back to 56 as the net came to a close.
08:22z  EA7GSU, Pertti, mostly 58. Pertti had no trouble working Henk and Bill for a start but almost faded out in VK-land later.
08:33z  G4YZE, Bill. Too close for me. Only 43 here. Got 53 from Henk shortly before closing time. Today 5C, but had snow yesterday
08:37z  EA6/M0BDI, Ralph. Managed to work the VKs and Gs but only 22 here.
08:43z  EA/G4HMG, John. Managed to work some participants, but unfortunately only 22 here.
08:44z  PA0SDZ, Les. 33 improving to 44, but Les got fine reports from VK2 and VK4.
09:07z  OH6SM, Martti. 58 here. Good copy in VK-land, but this Sunday long path worked best. Snowing and minus 1C.
09:26z  Last participants, OH6SM, VK4ZD and HB9CQS, closed the net.

Dear Bill,
Conditions were reasonable today with Europe coming through with weak but readable signals.
I did not make note of the exact times I heard stations but on frequency were:
We started around 08:10 UTC
VK4ZD – Bill - 57 here consistently on the back scatter.
HB9CQS – Klaus - at first a 53 and getting stronger until 08:30 (59+) and then fading out again.
EA7GSU – Perti – up and down 5.3 average but good copy
ZL1MJG – Ralph – with poor audio (59 but he has got a lot of work to do)
EA/M0BDI – Ralph – pretty constant 5.3 here all the time
G4YZE – Bill – at first 3.1 but coming up to a 5.4 (08:50) and then going down again
EA/G4HMG – John – at first no copy but gradually coming through 4.3 peaking at 08:40.
PA0SDZ – Leslie – Pretty good 5.4 all the time
OH6SM – Marti – called only close to 09:00 and was 5.7 with me.
Someone mentioned G0JWE (Don) but I did not hear him.
Best regards  Henk – VK2GWK

Messages Received.
Nothing this week so here is one of Pertti's gems : -
A student became lost during a solo cross-country flight. While
attempting to locate the aircraft on radar, ATC asked, "What was your
last known position?"
Student: "When I was number one for takeoff."

                    That's all for this week
