From Coos after the net : -
Dear Bill,
For years I have known that I have a
'worn' disc in the lower lumbago area.
Generally it does not bother me but
sometimes (as in May) there is an 'attack'
with unbearable pain. Such an attack hit
me on Friday. Result: no movement. My height (6'6") does not
help.
Slowly slowly I got out of bed this
morning but much too slow to go to the basement shack and
thus much too late for ROAR.
I hope you had a Good Christmas and I
wish you and all ROAR members a Happy and healthy New Year.

Dear Bill,
Last sunday-net I was QRV from a holiday location in the
North Eastern part of the Netherlands.
I was using an Icom IC 706MK2G with just 100 watt into a
vertical antenna.
I was happy that Jim was able to copy me with 57 and
John HMG copied me with 59

Ralph M0BDI and I had a rather scrappy net in
very noisy conditions.
Then I had the following from Brian G3LUW.
"Another noisy affair. EA/G4HMG John was loud and clear from
Spain, with season's greetings from Diana EA/G4MVV and Mike
EA/G8LES. G0JWE Don's signals were up and down. Mike G4WRU
was steady copy. G0PCF Bruce and G2FUU Tommy both came up
to 5&9 towards the end, but we were all troubled by the
Continental QRM. The net ended at 1927"
(Brian was only about 1kHz down from us but I heard nothing
from them. The joys of shortwave radio !)
Messages Received.
From Jack KF5BD in
Albuquerque.on Xmas eve.
Merry Christmas To All and Best wishes for 2009.
The good news here is that The Tower Service crew came early
this am [9am] while it was still cold freezing and raised my
beam.
It checks out fine and on Sunday I will try to join the early
morning net work.
