Roar Nets April 20 2008

Propagation a little better.   K=0, A=5,  Flux=71.

0700z - 0800z  Europe-Anzo Net on 14,293 Long Path.
This Net re-timed to 0630z - 0730z from next Sunday April 27.
Starting early I heard VK2GWK Henk at 0650z.
Henk was 3/4 up to 5/6 at times and gave me 4/2.
He reported a contact with Pertti EA7GSU earlier, about 0630z.
VK3KCD Peter and VK4ZD Bill were on the net but not audible here.

0800z - 0900z  UK 80-metre Net on 3,693.
G3JJR John in charge from Wolverhampton.
Eight on the net in rather poor conditions.

1130z - 1230z  International Net on 14,293.
1130z - W1QUO Jim coming in 5/9 but not receiving anybody.
1130z - VE2GTI Coos from Montreal 5/7, had 6.5c but "summer coming".
Coos contacted Jim by telephone and reported that Jim had very heavy
solar noise from the north and not hearing any signals.
I called and monitored until 1210z without getting any further contacts.
(Jim is OK and has had several radio contacts since Sunday but has
severe noise on the polar path so had no contact with son Jim in Beijing.)

1800z - 1900z  UK evening net on 3.696.
G3LUW Brian in charge from Devon.
Despite noisy long-skip conditions there were nine
on the net, including John F/G4HMG near La Rochelle.
John will be back in the UK on Thursday 24th.

Messages Received.
From Chuck Graham KI6DCD re. R.I. Convention in LA 15/18 June 2008.
Hi John and all,
I’ve offered to handle the QSL’s for the coming convention since I can’t be there as I’m on dialysis 3 days a week.
I have designed a face that I like and it is now time for your comments.  It is the convention logo with our name and call sign added.
The “W” prefix was not available so I reserved the K6R in case you were wondering.
I’ll put the info up on QRZ.com and ask for SASE and print the QSL on my color printer on card stock to keep the cost under control.
I’ll also check out eQSL in case anyone is using that although I don’t think many will if they want a souvenir card although that can be printed by the requestor and save the postage.
With the band conditions the way they are I don’t expect many foreign requests.
Where else should we list the availability?
John how many do you want for the convention booth?

(Note that the qsl card design is now on the website - ROAR Webmaster)

Re. Teru JM2HBO.
Please correct the e-mail address I gave last week.
I missed the dot between "kind" and "ocn".
Teru's correct e-mail address is  teru@kind.ocn.ne.jp
