Long Path.
Apologies ! I slept in - after a wedding in
Liverpool on Saturday night. ! !
Thanks for the reports.
From Henk VK2GWK : -
G’day Bill,
Very poor conditions today. But there were a number of people
on the net.
First I worked PA0SDZ (Leslie) and shortly after Bill, VK4ZD
came on. Leslie managed a good QSO with VK5CV who was on briefly,
but could not get through to VK4ZD. EA7GSU joined us a little later but I
was the only station this side he could work. Later he had
a very good QSO with Leslie PA0SDZ. This all happened between 06:30 and
07:00 UTC.
When I listened and called briefly later (07:15) I got a
reply from CT/AD6XX Laszlo! He was about 4.3 with me and we had a chat and
confirmed that conditions were lousy. Not a whisper from the UK today….
Next week is WAE-DX contest and I might participate – not
sure yet -. If so I will not be on the net.
Best regards
Henk – VK2GWK

From Coos/VE2GTI a correction to my last
week's report : -
Wednesday morning 30 Aug.
Correction on the Australians.
They are here, in our District, under the
umbrella of 'Rotary Friendship Exchange'.
There are six couples and two single men,
all Rotarians from D9650, i.e. between Sydney and the Queensland border.
They were all billeted by Rotarians. The visit lasts 2 weeks and they
were in Montreal from Fri 25/8 till Tue 29/8.
Bill and his spouse Carolyn (our
guests) were from Dorrigo. He was an ex-RAAF pilot and Carolyn a trained
nurse. Jolly people,
all 14 of them. We had a BBQ on Sunday evening and they sang their
hearts out singing Australian songs, including -of course!-
'Waltzing Mathilda' and their National Anthem. We had a great time.
They are currently in Northern State of New
York, part of our District 7040.
VE2GTI
And one from Pertti/EA7GSU.
A reasonably well off man of 76 years of age
had just
married a stunning, good looking woman of half his
age. A friend asked how he had managed to marry such a
beauty?
" I lied about my age," he said.
"But anyhow...?"
" I said I am 96 !".
Smile !!
Pertti
